If Markstrom comes off the heater they'd be challenged to win many games.

How about NHL changes playoffs a little bit and qualify 4 teams makes for wild card. And 1st wild card team plays against 4th team. Total 2 games. Home and away. And sum of the goal deferential decide a winner like UEFA soccer cup.
For example Flames makes 4th wild card and play Against LA which is 1st wild card team.
1 game in LA and 1 game in Calgary.
If Flames loose 2:4 in LA but wins 3:1 at home Flames qualifies for Playoffs. So goals totals, goal deference and home and away goals decides final result.
I think it would be crazy 2 games which will be exciting but also 9th and 10th team get 1 game playoffs income for not intentionally sucking.

The Oilers finish the season at a .441 pace for 91 points and miss the last playoff spot.

Not quite as good as watching former Canuck favorite, Gelinas, get the OT winner in 2004, but still pretty good.

I hope we resign him, seems like a fantastic guy for the room, and some serious skills too

All the factors that prevented the Flames from making the playoffs last season seem to have been rectified.
- Marky's play
- Huby's play
- Kadri's play in the 2nd half of the season
- Rift between the head coach and the players
Call me crazy but I think the Flames have at least a 50/50 shot at getting in this year.

I'm going to assume that Lindholm was asking for $1M less than the Flames wanted to pay, and the Flames wanted to give him $1M more per year, and because of this, contract talks fell apart.

Do you have any Math to support that Mathgod?
The current mathematical possibility of the team getting 93 points is something like a 2:1 win to loss ratio in the remaining games. Like 20 wins, 10 losses in the last ~30 games.

The playoffs seem a possibility if the Huberdeau line keeps doing what they've been doing.
Huberdeau - Sharangovich - Kuzmenko have been lights out, but I was surprised at how good their analytics are in a small sample size:
In 31 mins they have 78.9xG% , 2.91xGF/60, 0.78xGA/60, 56.9 CF%.

They’ve been pretty good defensively mainly because they beak out of the zone very well.

What was their performance like in the rangers game?
