Really physical looking game! Nice to see the Wranglers hang in there with a gutsy win.
I thought the no goal was a bit strange since it seemed obvious from the overhead view that the Abbotsford goalie dislodged the left post on his own and it had nothing to do with the play or the shot that beat him cleanly…?!?
It didn’t matter in the end…
Go Wranglers!!!

The American Hockey League announced today that Dustin Wolf of the Calgary Wranglers is the recipient of the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award for the 2022-23 season. Since 1972, the award has been presented to the goaltender(s) on the team which allows the fewest goals per game in the regular season.
To qualify for the award, a goaltender must have appeared in at least 25 of his team’s games.
The Wranglers, who won the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the AHL’s regular-season champions with a record of 51-17-3-1 (106 points), allowed a league-low 174 goals in 2022-23, an average of 2.42 per game. This marks the first time a Calgary affiliate has won the Holmes Award since 1997-98, when J.S. Giguere and Tyler Moss shared the award with the Saint John Flames.
Wolf made 55 appearances in net for the Wranglers and led the league in every major statistical category, including wins (42), save percentage (.932), goals-against average (2.09) and shutouts (seven). He also made his NHL debut with the Flames earlier this week, and was voted a First Team AHL All-Star for the second year in a row. Wolf, who turns 22 today, has a career record of 77-20-6 with a 2.24 GAA, a .927 save percentage and seven shutouts in 105 AHL appearances.
This is the AHL's equivalent to the Jennings Trophy in the NHL. Wolf should win the equivalent to the Vezina later this week.

The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Nice. I was hoping we'd get the W at centre ice. The pattern on the red line is better than what they had during the regular season too. I hope they keep that next season (or maybe alternate the Ws with the Hitmen logo).

The Tucson Roadrunners Broadcast is complaining about Dustin Wolf being named MVP “No disrespect to Dustin Wolf, but we feel our guy(Carcone) was ‘more’ of an MVP”
Also, Roadrunners thumping Coachella 4-1 halfway into the second.
Just curious if anyone knows anything about Shane Wright’s AHL eligibility.
To the best of my knowledge he has an NHL contract, was sent down to junior, was with the Spitfires when the AHL roster deadline passed…But is playing for Coachella in the playoffs.
Does him most recently playing in the OHL have him playing under a different set of rules regarding roster eligibility? Most junior players who join the AHL team are on ATOs and don’t hold a NHL contract.
