But he's also a guy that has intangibles that suggest there's more going on when he gets ice time than a simple sort of goals and assists or even xGF% would defend.

For tonight I think this is a way to do a few things (not saying I agree with all of them)

1. Get Huberdeau back into the lineup
2. Bench a fourth liner
3. Try Dube up the middle to get him going
4. Balance the lines with the offence not chugging
Huberdeau missed 3 games not a season, I don't understand easing him back into the lineup. It also doesn't help when you staple Lewis on his wing with Backlund. You want your 10 million winger playing on a checking line?

Did Kadri envision playing with Lucic when he signed here?

The lines have been balanced they haven't been given time to gel with his constant rolling 4 lines and giving a 4th line too much ice time when they don't deserve it.

Gabe Vilardi has had a great start to his season. Every team could have claimed him on waivers last year. Kind of like Kylington; every so often a player on waivers figures it out

He gave Tanev a lesser role in game one back from an injury.

Sutter barely changed his lines last season, he walked them out game after game after game ...

Because everyone was pulling on the rope in the same direction. This year not so much. He's still looking to get everyone on the same page, and hasn't found the combinations he's happy with yet.

Sutter is going to play his fourth line. He always has. He always will.

These lines aren't going to be permanent.

Huberdeau was hurt and is still on the mend most likely. Backlund has been good with everyone and can carry the puck which will help Huberdeau. Lewis can help on the D side of things.

Kadri is probably a bright enough guy to realize that these lines aren't going to be set in stone forever.

I don’t think this is true
He was sent down last year but was still waiver exempt
I think….

I hate LA.

And I think that Hack&Lube has a brilliant nick - so I stole it and renamed my Fantasy team from Trailer Park Boys.

Just win.

I agree 100%. I feel that I am screaming at them multiple times a game to get the puck to the front of the net. They just seem so reluctant to try and get passes through - if the other player isn't completely unchecked, they prefer to circle it around the boards. Sometimes, you have to force it into the middle.

Fun fact:

Last year, Lucic played 12:15 per game. This year is ice time is down a full minute to 11:06 per game.

But judging by fan complaints, you'd think he's at 15 minutes.

I think it has to do with a combo of team success, the way the lines are this season and guys like Pelletier not making the jump.

-Last year I noticed the 4th line being played a lot. But then the top 2 lines would score and we would have a lead and no one cared.
-Sutter has been experimenting and guys like Lucic and Lewis have been in the top 3 lines on paper
-Lots of people (myself included) had Pelletier locked in the top 9 and were expecting a boring 4th line of Lucic/Lewis/Rooney/Ritchie to play 8-10 minutes a night and be sheltered

I do think around game 25 we could see some young guys start to get looks.

Phillips, Pelletier, Zary, and Schwindt have figured it out for the Wranglers and they look good.

All of them are around a PPG in the AHL now and if they keep it up they should get a look.

Exactly. The coaching hasn't changed, only the execution has. The moment the team is winning, Sutter will miraculously be a great coach again (well, to everyone except Yikes)

It seems like they don't leave the ice because they are taking the offensive zone faceoffs, get tossed out after a goal. Rooney Ritchie and Lucic should be playing 8-9 minutes and maybe rotate out a guy and put on a Mangiapane, Dube Kadri with them to get them more minutes.

Not only is Lucic's ice time down from last year, but Mangiapane's is up (despite his struggles so far this season.

People see what they want to see however.

Maybe Mackey will learn not to tip opposing players' shots this game.

May you provide which website you use for ice time averages yearly?
