What kind of cracked up lunatic calls Glenmore the N/S divide? I've never heard that before, probably because it makes no sense. Officially and unofficially.

No no, you misunderstood. It's not the N/S divide, simply that the NE is the specific area north of Glenmore and east of Deerfoot

Yeah, we should make the N/S divide the CPR tracks. Ha!

Exactly. I used to live in Airdrie and now I'm in the deep SE and going northbound on Deerfoot at rush hour (32nd & north) is vastly worse than going south. It also has less viable options to avoid Deerfoot if there are issues.

Ah, ok, I get it! Yes FL is NE. West of Deerfoot N/S is still Memorial.

This guy gets it

Even officially, the City of Calgary uses Glenmore as a zone border east of the Glenmore Reservoir

Exactly!

Kinda like how people in Signal Hill and Strathcona don't want to be considered SW. They just consider everything between 16th and Glenmore to simply be "West." but then there's an argument about whether the eastern border of that is Sarcee or Crowchild. Officially it's Crowchild, but don't tell that to someone in Altadore, they get upset

Oh yeah, I suppose I should have done that in order. That was kind of dumb of me. Starting point was Chestermere, then Temple, then Dalhousie, and on and on.

I like to think of myself as a plucky young upstart. A rags to riches, if you will. Bootstraps and all that.

I think you should limit your choice exclusively to places like Artisans' Pointe. How about an acerage in Springbank??

Anywhere but the south of Calgary and you'll be very happy with your choice. But, I guarantee years of depression if you move to flatland permanently.

Have you considered something closer or Kensington itself?

Kensington offers good transit access to school for university for your son and he'll appreciate being close to an additional set of bars.

As your kids move out and you and your wife get your social lives back you'll have great access to restaurants and coffee shops.

Your wife will get to walk to work and your drive to Highfield down memorial and through Inglewood/Ramsay is no longer than any of the other options. (~15mins)

Good access to the river pathway system.

You said you want to move to the city so why not consider moving to the actual city?

I appreciate the suggestion but we like to still have some space, and moving into an infill neighborhood is pretty counter to that desire. We are trying to find a blend of convenience and not have to worry about hitting our neighbors house with our gate when I go into our yard. Its gonna be a bit of shock in lot size change in making this move to begin with.

Also, unrelated to your post...I am kinda blown away with how many people on this board have moved that many times. Is ADHD in home ownership an actual thing? Have you guys ever calculated your real estate fee costs or maybe these previous spots were short rentals?

Just throwing it out there.

Agreed on the moving front. We've been in our current place for 11 years and don't see ourselves ever moving as long as we stay in Calgary. On the flip side I have a buddy who's parents moved ever 2-3 years as he grew up and have continued to since he moved out. Some people crave constant change I guess.

Most of mine listed were homes growing up, and only one wasn't a rental. Since then I went from Bridgeland, Kelvin Grove, Victoria Park, and finally Sunnyside. No intention to leave here anytime soon (11 years and counting).

I heard everything north of the river was going to be Airdrie and Calgary was everything south of the river. Kind of makes sense when you think about it.

The river bends at Inglewood then travels south. So it kinda cuts the city E/W instead of N/S.

Must be a Sunnyside thing. Bounce around until you end up in Sunnyside and never have a reason to leave.
