Not by much, but Backlund was money in the playoffs. Dube was starting to look really dangerous playing with Mangiapane, and then Sutter said, "Nah", and replaced him with Coleman. I get the move from a defenfsive point of view.

I’m not sold on Dube, I think he might be a Johnny Try Hard but not much finish. A streaky player that can’t really be depended on. Need some of those guy but not convinced of his offensive upside

I'm not pencilling Dube into anything until we see what the results are from the HC thing.
Somethings not sitting right with any of it.

Backlund would give McDavid a run for the scoring title if he buried his chances

nah, Backlund misses a inordinate amount of glorious chances (that's the jooooke)...more than the average player. He for sure leads the Flames in missed empty nets. To his credit you have to be good to put yourself in that situation.

How in the world has Evan Rodrigues not signed anywhere yet?

Kadri is probably holding up the market. As soon as he signs with a team, we'll probably see other players like Rodrigues sign too.

I guess, maybe...
I mean Kadri is a top 6 C looking for a pretty big contract, I seriously doubt many teams are even in on him any more.
Rodrigues is a middle 6 winger who shouldn't cost nearly as much and you'd think he'd have had at least a few offers and picked from one of them by now.

It seems like most teams are trying to clear cap space, but only a select few have room to take it on.
There’s also PK Subban-I wouldn’t want him anywhere near our locker room, but who is going to take a chance?
And why haven’t the Bruins signed Bergeron yet? I know it’s a forgone conclusion that he’s going to stay in Boston, but what are they waiting for?

Apart from the slew foot nonsense, Subban has really slowed down.

Need to sign Zacha Bergy and Krejci with 4.8m in cap space. Looks like they are trying to clear cap like everyone else. Craig Smith likely causality per this article.
If Sweeney is forced into a Bjorkstrand-like gift situation, the likeliest to go could be winger Craig Smith ($3.1M/one year), whose production was spotty and frustrating last season. Perhaps a new coach will wring more out of him, if he doesn’t end up the collateral damage for the younger, bigger, and perhaps more versatile Zacha.

40 goals playing with two 100 pt wingers. What does Lindholm look like driving Mangiapane and Coleman?
Lindholm doesn't really drive play like a #1 centre. Maybe if we put him on a line with Huberdeau he can produce like one, but there's a reason he disappears in the playoffs.

Does he really, though? Or does he just get more glorious chances and finish at an average, but non-elite rate?

It’s his Baraka like smile, and the fact he might be a one season wonder.

Probably like a very good defensive centre who scores 65’ish points.
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Mangiapane? I could see a line like that all being a point a game each.
The big problem we have right now is our depth is going to get exposed. Monahan was not a good even strength player prior to injuries riddling his body, and Backlund’s 39 points is not good to be an anchor on the 2nd line.
Really looking at the roster shows that this team needs to acquire a 2nd line play driving centre who can generate offence at even strength.

TBH, i don't think Crosby could drive much more out of those guys.
