Any guesses how we will be disappointed this week?
I did have solo singing number on my bingo card, though I was hoping not to stamp it. Dream sequence/ fatherly reunion psychoanalysis wasn't on there though.
I like learning more about Jean-Luc's past. I like elaborating more on the relationship with his father that was touched on in Family. I dislike how much of the episode it took up. If they had just left it as the counselor scene and had Fake Laris come in to that I'd have actually really liked everything they were doing there. I disliked the entire sub-plot of monsters and young Picard running around in his mind. Much like Picard and Gul Madred, now I see Picard as a scared child instead of the dignified retired admiral he is.
I am not as disappointed as a lot of people here (the not dealing with Discovery probably has me a lot more patient) but the last three episodes could have been a single episode if I am being generous. They're taking good ideas and then executing them in a poor and bloated manner which is making them take way longer than they should and turning them into mush like an overcooked stew.

I think that writing rooms need to come with a 300 pound man with a rolled up newspaper.
Writer - "I have an idea that will make us look smart and artistic. We'll have young Jean Luc running around in his own brain being chased by a monster that symbolic of . . . . "
WAPPPA
Oleg the Critical judge strikes him across the back of the head drawing blood
Writer two - "Come on man, it'll make the show look deep and ser . . . .OWWW"
CRAMMA he gets hit so hard in the back of the head with a newspaper that his eyeball pops out and goes bouncing down the hall.
Oleg- "No, more phasers, less exposition"
Whammo Oleg hits me in the face for using the term exposition. and a second time for breaking the fourth wall

How many episodes in a row now have had nothing in space?
But space is expensive, while time travel to our present day is cheap and allows low-effort commentary on how broken our society is competed to the utopian federation
y'know, I was just thinking about how Star Trek needed more Sexy spock scenes with my Bridgerton comment.
Jokes aside, the trailer is not that bad. I hope that they have no writer cross over from other current star trek properties (except for LD) and that they don't drive this straight into the ground.
