I mean public coach/GM/owner speak is about as meaningless as it gets. If they are trading Jones why would they talk him down instead of up? How often do we here "we love this guy" three days before he's traded? They might actually love Jones, or they might know he's going to be a part of the trade to bring Russ or whoever to town. Jones still has some appeal, I mean we do acknowledge the Giants are a disaster so maybe on a non-disaster team he looks like a capable NFL starter?

they've been a disaster for a while, but I think Schoen is a decent hire for a change. Will take a while to clean up Gettleman's mess, but if he can convince Daboll to become their HC and add decents coordinators, I think there's potential.
Jones obviously stinks, but what is the owner going to say?

And now Eberflus to the Bears. Who knew Natty Hackett was the domino holding everything up?

Lol at the Bears going for the Matt and Ryan coach/GM combo to a....Matt and Ryan coach/GM combo. Now just trade for Matt Ryan to top it all off.

I don't think Jones has elite QB potential but I don't think he's been put in a very good situation. His two head coaches were disasters and the offensive personnel hasn't been that great most of the time. I think the Giants should see what he's capable of with better coaching and talent before moving on.

Ehhh, he's kind of a turnover machine seems to get hurt a lot. I think his ceiling is probably similar to Mariota's.

Chicago fired Ryan the GM and Matt the head coach and replaced them with Ryan the GM and Matt the head coach.
That has to be a good sign

Bears whiffed not hiring Jim Caldwell.
Super Bowl appearance as HC with Indy.
2 playoffs in 4 years with the Lions, which is basically two Super Bowls with any other organization.
Super Bowl as the OC of the 2012 Ravens.
Why hire him when you can hire a DC whose unit gave up 26 points to the Jaguars in the
biggest game of the year.

It's always a coin flip when you hire first time NFL coaches. I think I read 2/3 of all head coach hires result in a repeat of the hiring process in 2-3 years so there's a good chance that Eberflus is a bust. That said guys like Tomlin, John Harbaugh, McVay were all low fanfare, first time head coach hires so to find those guys involves a leap of faith.

Still rumours he could take on the OC role.
Tough to say with Caldwell and being out of the league for a couple years, but Eberflus has had a top 10 defense in points allowed in 3 of his 4 years.
Admittedly i know little to nothing about the guy aside from the typical "listen to what his peers think of him"

Since 2000, the Detroit Lions have won 9 games or more 5 times.
Jim Caldwell has three of those seasons.
His 11 wins in 2014 was the most of any Lions team since 1995.
I’m not saying he’s Belichick or whatever, but he should be a head coach.
Rolling the dice that a defensive coach will be able to properly develop Justin Fields seems silly when you could hire a guy who went to a super bowl with Peyton Manning and won a Super Bowl with Joe Flacco?
I don’t know about that.

Daboll is one of this years hottest coach hire targets for the work he did with Allen, and he was working under a strong DC.
I think as long as Eberflus can bring in a strong, proven OC to develop the offense around Fields its not doom and gloom quite yet

The problem to me is that if the OC is any good, he’ll be hired to be a head coach in two years.
Then Fields is on his 3rd system in four seasons.
I’m not a Bears fan by any stretch, but the enemy of any young QB is turmoil, and I think Caldwell would provide the most stability.
The new GM disagrees.

Well there's hope for Raider fans that he'll pull another Colts and not take the job. But yeah I'd rather give Bisaccia another year then roll with McDaniels.

I actually kind of think McDaniels might be the perfect coach for Carr. He's pretty thoroughly proven he knows how to design an offense around system QBs.

But I’d been assured Harbaugh was the coach.
