Both Gus and Forbort are available. Forbort was pretty impressive in Winnipeg this year. I tend to think Gus’ offence has dried up.

If Barrie goes a couple days past UFA day without a deal, I bet his price drops significantly and the Flames should take a good look.

Yeah, I thought Forbort had a great season in Winnipeg. I still see him as a 4/5 D. In my mind, there would be quite a drop-off from Gio if he came in as his replacement. I am saying Gio's replacement because the left size is mostly set with Hanifin/Valimaki/Mackey. That's why he didn't make sense in my head, but I think he can be a very good add, especially if one of Valimaki/Mackey can also be a 4/5 this season.

Hanifin is Gio’s replacement. I think Mackey and Valimaki are still platooning. Forbort slots between. He was playing 20m a night on the Jets.

I meant more in terms of personnel. You remove Gio and add Forbort. In my mind it creates a top 4 that won't be generating any offense 5 on 5. I also have questions about the foot speed of a Forbort Andersson pairing, I think the pairing would suffer from the same things Andersson Giordano did.

I thought that Hanifin Andersson would be a pairing next season. Tanev on the other hand would play with whomever the Flames sign or babysit Mackey/Val as they improve.
