It’s a 7 game series in which we started down 0-2.
It’s now 1-2, 4 games left.

Why did the Flames start down 0-2?

That still doesn't make sense to me either.
Against Montreal specifically? We're 4-1 this season.
A 7 games series starting with our last 3 games? We're 3-0, not 1-2.

After looking at it, I think I understand what he is getting at...
Because the Flames had five remaining games v. the team they are chasing for the playoffs, it is an imaginary scenario that envisions just these five games as part of a seven-game playoff series, but in which we must pretend that Montreal has already won the first two games. Wednesday was Imaginary Game #3, with the Flames already having lost Imaginary Games #1 and #2. The idea being that the Flames need to win four of their remaining five to win the Imaginary Series.
I think it is monumentally silly. It is much more straightforward and accurate to state the obvious: the Flames need to win at least 4/5 v. Montreal.

I haven't been able to watch any of the games since the Turnaround.
So I'm scheduling a family walk during the game this afternoon.
You're welcome.

When you say 4/5 I assume you mean that within the context of an imaginary 7 game series in which we are already down by 2 ?

Why would you think that? Heading into Wednesday's game the Flames had five remaining games v. Montreal. They needed to win at least four. This is not complicated.

As I must clearly lack the eloquence to accurately convey humor in print form perhaps I should be asking if there is a particular color whimsical text should be ?

Good stuff from Sutter here. Says:
- Gio is our best D-man, pairing him with Tanev has allowed him to play his own game and not be held back having to cover up for a younger D-man
- Hanifin is ready to handle his own pair
- Team is playing at 65-75% of what they're capable of right now

I like the analogy. The Flames are essentially out of the playoffs (or at least a long shot), if they don't win 4/5 games against Montreal. Why not treat those 5 games as a playoff series, where the Flames need to win 4/5 games, which would be the scenario if they were already down by 2.

When the reality is as simple as needing to win 4/5 games against Montreal, I don't think you need to make up an analogy to make the point that they need to win 4/5 games against Montreal. I'm not even sure analogy is the right word, but whatever it is, it defeats the purpose by making it less clear and more complicated.
Flames must win 4/5. Very simple.

It's just awesome to have a real head coach.
"...playing more the style that the league plays instead of playing their own style"
The team is in an infinitely better position with Darryl as Head Coach than they were with Gulutzan, Peters or Ward. Regardless of what happens from here on out, he has already helped the team as I think he helped get more out of Bennett (8 points in 15 games, 6 in his final 6 games), which helped Tree extract more value out of him.

Well if there ain't any analogy or whatever word then the win 4/5 games is wrong as it should be 3/4 against Montreal.
