Croatia will lose to Malta. Then tie Cyprus 1-1.

Then crush the rest of the group with a +22 diff. It's how they do.

The OCD inside me thinks Cyprus and Malta spoiled a real chance at some sweet flag visuals

1982 World Cup Winner Paolo Rossi has died at the age of 64 - https://www.theguardian.com/football...up-winner-dies

Probably the best place to put this as he was probably more associated with the national team, at least outside of Italy.

Jogi Löw is stepping down as German head coach after the upcoming Euros.

probably every single German fan is breathing a sigh of relief right now more than overdue.

He's gotta be one of the longest tenured NT managers in history.

Love him for the WC win...but yes, long overdue.

Unfortunately they waited so long that Flick (great name!) is now coaching Bayern and doing pretty well at it.

I wouldn't outright dismiss the possibility of Flick taking over. His relationship with Salihamidzic is said to be lukewarm at best, and IIRC he's always wanted to coach the German NT. And really, he's already won everything with Bayern, so who knows? I also find it interesting that neither Flick nor Bayern have convincingly shot the rumours down so far.

another name to watch is Ralf Rangnick. Wouldn't be surprised if he was the guy to take over from Löw.

TAA out, Shaw in.

Lingardinho also in, for an unfit Grealish.

So weird. Starting WC qualifying and we haven't even played the EURO.

I dont think keeping TAA out right now is the issue it's being made out to be, he hasn't been very good and right back is really deep

I think southgate is trying to basically light a fire under him for these last 10 weeks, because going with trippier and james at RB, since I'm assuming hes gonna play walker as the rcb in a 3 to give it some pace, is still a strong position

Shaw should be starting on merit too, especially if it's as a wing back

Agreed. I love AWB defensively at RB, (Neymar/Sterling), but he doesn’t get a sniff because of his lack of forward movement.

How does Bamford not get in (second most England goals), but Lingard and his worldies does.

Southgate’ is so pedestrian.

Coady and Dier getting invites instead of Keane is kinda odd. Also would have thought he would have not selected Rashford just to give him a break, he has looked very tired the past few games for United.

I think he needs to witness first-hand, the Shaw-Rashford link-up.

Does Reece James play LB occasionally too?
I swear he was playing there when Chelsea played Utd back at the start of the season?

I'm expecting Rashford to withdraw from the squad. He looks injured.

can't get excited for any of this. NT games are a terrible idea right now ... heck, the whole Euro tournament is. The whole continent is in the middle of the third wave (or are we still in the second?! ...), even CL/EL games are hard to justify, really.
