Damn. Don't like PLD in the Flames division.

I have no opinion on Laine's fitness. My comment was in reference to Gaudreau, and I don't know what his fitness would have to do with this trade. Seems like another reason to criticize him based on years old speculation.

The expansion draft likely factors in too with a player like Roslivic. Was Winnipeg going to protect him, likely not or he's closer to a guy they would have exposed. So for Columbus they now have to expose another guy on their roster.

Jets have the advantage of an extra year of favorable contract with PLD.
They win the trade based on contract value going forward.

Laine has to re-sign in off-season. Retained salary from Jets only this year.
If Laine regains form of past and PLD does not take next step the trade swings to CLB.
Torts and Laine should make for some theatrics.
Both players have some ugly numbers defensively. Laine's is terrible.

I hope PLD is content in Winnipeg and doesn't get upset at a bunch of Trudeau supporters or anything.

People in here saying Winnipeg got fleeced are going to be eating crow when they see us play a motivated PLD another 5 games this season.

Columbus is actually a really nice city and their rink is excellent as well. Assuming you can stay out of Torts' doghouse, I'd take Columbus over Winnipeg 10/10.

Does Dubois think that Maurice is going to be easier to deal with than Torts? Maybe, but Maurice is no pushover for sure.

So Roslivic didn't have a contract, so does that mean he is home in the States? Could he dress today for them or is there some covid protocol before joining a team?

I'm with you 100% that the team has upgraded in net. And playing in front of a quality goalie can definitely change how the five skaters play.
But the Flames have struggled generating offense 5 on 5 in difficult games for years now. IMO that is going to take a change in personnel to improve enough to be a contender.

Laine did no skating at all prior to the training camp for the playoff series last summer.

He lives in Columbus, so he could be at the rink today.
Im sure he still has to have negative tests before getting in the room with everyone though.

Taking a while to get to 5000

All this trade talk is fine, but will PLD apologize immediately after breaking his wrist on our captain?

Totally agree. Unique talent. Best parked in another Division.
Season opener was a big example. We were about to turn that game into a rout and suddenly he snipes and its a different game.
Overtime goal was also vintage Laine.
I am a lot less scared of Jets powerplay without him.

Dubois has a place to stay in Winnipeg. His dad is an assistant coach with the Moose for the last 4 years.

I think the myth and legend that has become PLD may leave people wanting more. The bar he has the pass right now is Laine in game one. Flames might be the first game so I think a lot of people will be ready to watch and see what he brings.

IMO, PLD is the better player. Which is why the Jets retained salary and tossed in another player to get the deal done.
Laine is still a one dimensional player, and that dimension has been less effective every year he's been in the league.

The last 4 games over the last 2 seasons against the Flames, PLD has 4 GP, 1 assist, and a -4.
