Ducks re-haul team, ship out McD as well
The Ducks have been busy the last 4 days moving out some big names. Today is the biggest one of all.
The concept had been discussed for a number of weeks since the Ducks acquired McD, but today it all came together.
To Ducks
B. Tkachuk
PL Dubois
TO HABS
C. McDavid
T. Johnson
McD was great for our team, minus the last 3 or 4 games. And since the SIM is apparently random, I decided to spread out my depth a bit more. Tkachuk is a great young winger on a solid ELC, and I was super impressed with Dubois in the playoffs.
The last 3 deals together look like this:
Out
M. Stone (77)
A. Panarin (76)
C. McDavid (81)
T. Johnson (69)
~ $10M in savings for next year
In
PL. Dubois (73)
B. Tkachuk (72)
K. Fiala (71)
T. DeAngelo (70)
T. Lewis (63)
T. Zegras
Thanks to the Panthers, Stars and Habs for the trades.
Now to see how the SIM reacts in an incredibly tight Western Conference.

Wow Mcdavid put up 33 points in 24 games with Anaheim! And that got him a ticket out of town!

Just my opinion but I don't love this series of moves for the Ducks.
Just comparing the highest players on each list.
McDavid 81 > Larkin 75
Stone 77 > Dubois 73
Couturier 76 > Tkachuk 72
Panarin 76 > Fiala 71
Johnson 69 < DeAngelo 70
I'm not sure those downgrades are worth just adding Lewis and Zegras. Ducks save cap, but only beacuse the players they are getting back aren't as good.

McDavid >> Larkin
Stone < Dubois
Couturier < Tkachuk
Panarin << Fiala + Zegras
Johnson < DeAngelo
+3 in the < for me.
I also think Zegras is a top prospect, so I have my bias.
That's how I see it asset wise (not according to the SIM). Just based on age, contract status etc
Rating wise and therefore in theory SIM wise, I would agree with your comments.
Who knows how it plays out.

Big names all around being moved. Good job guys. I am not sure I believe the direction the Ducks are taking to protect their future assets but frankly with only 1 winner every year it is understandable to want to look to the future.

Add another deal to the mix.
TO OILERS
DeAngelo (70)
TO DUCKS
Klingberg (69)
Afanasyev
S. Rampa
I think Klingberg is much better than his ratings show. He was great in the playoffs and I think he will get a big rebound this year.
Afanasyev looks to perform at every level he is at...hoping he continues to progress.
Rampa, a 3rd round prospect on the rise this year.
Gives me more assets to work with which helps.
Thanks Oilers for the deal

Klingberg was the first player I acquired as a GM of the oilers. Funny enough the last guy to acquire him before me was probably Simmer, as I got him from the Islanders at the start of Scorp’s tenure.
This deal makes sense for me because of my cap situation. I got a bunch of players expiring (basically the whole team) so I’m given the option to sign Deangelo to a 1 year whereas with Klingberg I basically have to sign him to a 3 year deal.
Gonna miss Klingberg though. He’s been one of my best players since I acquired him 4 years ago. The Oilers defence has lost two of its longtime members within the past week in Klingberg and Edmundson. The future looks bright with Hronek, Girard, Deangelo, Gavrikov, Severson and Heinola all 25 or younger on the blue line

You had Klingberg for 4 years? That's like 20 years in CPHL years.
I suspect I have one of the highest turnovers. Can't top Scorp though!!
