^great post.
I’ll also add that even with the additions from other stupid GMs that first year Vegas roster was a bubble team at best. They rode great coaching, a revived MAF, and career scoring years all the way to the Cup final. Then that success, plus other benefits of living in Vegas, was used as leverage to attract Pacioretty and Stone and now Lehner and Pietro to become a legitimate contender.

They had enough assets to get Tatar for a first a second and a third, then just trade him in a cap dump situation for Paccioretty.
Vegas was given too much “expansion power”
To enter the league and Enter the top 6 teams of Stanley cup contender and be able to be there for the next 6 years because of the assets given to them.
I can’t wait for them to fail so horribly in 10 years and become the Quebec Nordiques.

How much better will Vegas be with Pietrangelo, but without Schmidt and Stastny? He's clearly the better player, but how much better impact on the standings? I'd suggest Markstrom will have a greater impact on the Flames standings than the changes the Knights have made.
Also, is AP a good stylistic fit for the Knights?
Pietro and the Blues had success under Hitch and Berube defense-first, aggressive forechecking style. They were terrible under Yeo's fast pace transition puck possession style; a style more like the Knights.

Despite all the reports about Alex Pietrangelo, I can confirm that he hasn’t made a decision and I don’t expect there will be one tonight

This guy certainly makes that team a whole lot better as far as slotting players...that much is for sure.

Every team had a 3 month layoff. Apparently the HOT goalie must have had a magic genie so he didn't have this same layoff. Poor excuse for every team that uses it.

I am pretty sure he will end up signing in Vegas, but it would be damn funny if he signed in Buffalo.

Yes but he is taking a long term deal 100%...I don't think he has been hit in the head as many times as Hall

Good point. Now that they are capped out, how many of their draft picks have made the team since inception? Now that the cap is maxed and they have to trade draft picks as a kicker to move a player like Schmidt how much longer will they be high in the standings.

Nitpicky, because this scenario won't happen, but we didn't finally get another RHD to play him on the left side.

Their offense went cold....#### happens.
Regardless the Knights do not lack scoring which is what the whole thing was about.

This is most defiantly one of the most astute comments I have ever read on here.
You are right the GMs screwed themselves in the end but I will still always hate Vegas and am mad about their early success.
I have always said I don’t blame them as an organization because the GMs can’t help themselves.
You look at some of their moves and know you could do a better job, qualifications or not.
It just hurts extra cause they are in our division and are now a desirable destination for players but part of me just feels like you need to earn success in a way, and not just by being shrewd and taking advantage of scrambling GMs in an uncomfortable situation but by biding your time and building a contender over years.
