Krug is good, but he’s not Pietrangelo
Armstrong screwed up when he gave Faulk that ridiculous deal.

Have to think Pietrangelo has perhaps already decided on a destination or two and STL moved on and a contract is contingent on other moves being made. Wonder if something is already in the works. Boston may be likely. Would be nice for the flames to back up the truck for him, but I would imagine he’s going to a US team.

Krug over Pietrangelo is insane. Not in the same tier at all.

Can they re-sign Dunn still?
Who do they move to facilitate that signing?

Brodie at $20M, or Krug at $45.5M
That is an easy decision.

If Toronto could have, they would have taken Krug

What exactly is the point of comparing the overall value of a 7 year deal vs a 4 year deal?

And some other team is probably going to pay them for the privilege of bailing them out of the resulting cap problems.
I hate the Knights.

Vegas currently has 1.59 in cap space. Even if they find someone to take MAF and can clear his full salary (unlikely) that's still only 8.59 to Pietrangelo. So they would still have to shed a bit of space. I just don't see Vegas happening for him.

Max term for Krug. Definitely got paid. Pietrangelo just lost a suitor. I can see Blue Jackets being in Pietrangelo too, with them moving a couple of D-men over the last few days.

wow... interesting...
assuming Boston will have to be more active now to replace Krug... i really thought he'd sign with Detroit...

All this contract does is make Karlsson’s contract in San Jose look even worse. Talk about an albatross that one will be.

capfriendly shows STL about a half million over the cap with a 22 man roster. Also worth noting they have no buyouts or retained salary on the books.
Scandella 3.25x4 seems like the obvious redundancy now, but they only signed him to that deal in April.
Gunnarsson 1x1.75 should be easy enough to move, but probably still not enough room to re-sign Dunn. Or Bozak (1x5) a la Stastny

If it weren't for the Covid Krug likely would have gotten $7.5 or $8 per season.
Free agenct contracts have been downright reasonable this season.
