my cousin was able to find two separate game sheets from senior hockey where he scored hat tricks against Ayres- those have become interesting keepsakes all of a sudden
Yeah I was looking up some of his men's league & Allan cup stats.
I couldn't find a game where he had less than 8 allowed.
We now have repeat performances by guys off the street coming in and playing even if for a moment as pros at the sport's most important position. We have a team that plays half the season as the worst in the sport and then ends up winning the championship. We have an expansion team filled with players other teams didn't want, with no breakaway rookie talent winning their division and making the final round of the playoffs.
It's just ludicrous. There is no more up from down, right from wrong, or any sense to make of this league (and maybe sport) any longer.
It's either the most exciting random sequence that you can imagine, or it's just plain garbage we're being sold. My money is on the latter.
As a life long hockey fan, truthfully I have watched as little hockey this season as I can remember since the advent of Center Ice. I think the product stinks. The irony is the Flames are in the middle of a tight playoff race and if they make it, heck with how ridiculous the game has become they could legitimately go on a run in playoffs.
It wouldn't change (actually would reinforce) my opinion that these games go about as random now as throwing darts. It's silly.

What a great story. Reminds me of the Chicago goalie a while ago. Great story and love seeing how happy this guy is. He seems like a great guy and got to live the dream for one day.
His wife's twitter is great about it too.
Leafs can suck it. I hope this loss someway, somehow results in them missing the playoffs.

Anyway, while it was obviously competitive instinct, Mrazek needed to be a hell of a lot smarter than to end up in a headlong rush for the puck 40 feet from his net knowing that his goaltending partner was already out. Set up a great story though.
Toronto really has to be asking some serious questions of themselves, but the Hurricanes did a masterful job of protecting Ayers in the third. That was one hell of a team win for Carolina.

Ok go watch the NBA where everyone knows within 2-3 teams who will win the title before the season starts - even the NFL is a similary story with Brady and probably now Mahomes
I don't know why about half the fanbases in the NBA even exist - what's the point when you will never win in a million years

The Battle of Alberta would've gotten a lot more heated if some Oilers plug ran Rittich and we had to have the MRU goalie come in...that said, that game, we may not have known the difference between him and Rittich.
Leafs getting roasted and rightfully so, though it's tough to switch gears and change your style of play, as undoubtedly,Carolina went into a shotblocking and permiter defense mentality. Leafs would've needed to counter that with some puck movement, fake shots etc in order to get clearer looks and closer looks.
