Last night was a perfect example of how playing well puts other teams in a position where officials have to call penalties.

I can't say I agree with this take.. Hall has by all accounts has had a terrible season to date, and quite frankly was piss poor last night but it is quite clear that the relationship between himself and the Devils organization and fanbase has soured. I can't blame the guy for wanting to be put into a better position. 10 straight years of playing on bottom feeders / non competitive teams has to take a toll on a player - and moving to a contender may just be what he needs to get back to his A+ game.
He is an elite player, and he is certainly good enough to get things done by himself. Taylor Hall has a Hart Trophy for a reason and carried the Devils to a playoff birth just two seasons ago.
He can at times play extremely selfishly - I 100% agree, and that is a concern but that may also be in large part to having very little support.
I wouldn't go out of my way to trade huge assets for the player myself at this point, but I would certainly take a look at possibly adding him via free agency if he were so keen on taking a "hometown discount".

I thought Lucic looked good last night. Effective body work behind the net especially, made more than a couple Devils nervous resulting in giveaways. And I really don't dislike his D zone play. He's a much higher IQ guy than I thought.

Won a race to the puck in the corner which directly led to the Monahan goal.

He's been on the ice for plenty of good stuff but hasn't gotten the points mainly because of luck.

" This is probably unlikely to happen." in regards to the Oilers and " Here’s a wild and crazy idea" in regards to the Flames. Sharks have $17 million in cap room and aren't going to be able to keep paying Lebanc $1 million and have plenty of other roster spots to fill. Canucks will have $16 million in cap space and their top defenseman and starting goaltender are UFA.

The effort is there for sure. I don't think anyone would complain if he was making $2 million per season.

I don't understand (to be clear I fully understand why Edmonton media would because they are no good) why some in the media think Hall would actually go back to Edmonton. He will finally have the opportunity to go to a team of his choice and people actually think he would go back to that organization? Crazy.

The salary was spent before he even was acquired, so it doesn't matter to me.

I’ll take a pass on Hall, I’d rather keep all of our assets instead of paying a winger 9-10M. We have enough LW’s already, we need another top 6C not another LW.

At 2 million everyone would be more than happy having him on our forth line.
He isn't a 6 million dollar player but he is for sure a NHLer.

Hall is a great player no doubt, but it's the old question of "if he is your best player, are you good enough to win it all?"
He would be a hell of a rental for someone.

Hall is far from the perfect solution. But the perfect player for your team rarely comes along.
If we think this team is ready to win, we need an upgrade. And if Hall is available, you take a hard long look.

Looking at his injury and surgery history I would not be willing to part with a 1st and top prospects in our system. Also not sure how we will be able to fit him under the cap. Too many red flags and we need a top 6C or RW instead, I’d rather take a run at Couturier instead.

Couturier isn’t available.
Als, our top two RW’s seem pretty good. Tkachuk and Lindholm are our top scorers. With how Frolik has established himself as a 11th/12th/13th forward, Tkachuk is now our 2nd line RW.
