Indeed.
Every part of me wants them to find something, but I doubt it will happen.
Funny note, last year my son was chatting with my dad and apparently my dad told my son he use to go to Oak Island all the time.
Like come dad, where was that story in Grade 7 FFS.

They'll find something but I want it to be epic. Like on the last episode they run into a steel encased bunker and they try and break into it only to discover that its an enormous septic tank that services most of the East Coast thats not on a sewer grid.
Curse of Oak Island indeed.

Yeah, and unless some major geologic event occurred between then and now, I don't see how anybody from the 1700s could have created this Rube Goldberg style barrier that modern technology is unable to get through. Everybody is milking this experience. The realistic end of this, is that somebody eventually dies in an accident, and all exploration activity on the island comes to a halt forever. Problem solved; the enigma of the island gets to live on.
Anybody hoping for some discovery like the Goonies' and One-Eyed Pete's treasure will be disappointed.

Do you not know the folklore?
One more death and the island will unveil its secrets.

Yeah. Pretty easy to connect the dots when a turnip farmer ends up buying crap load of land over night. But on the other hand...the holy grail or the arc!

Ahem....cabbage farmer.
I mean sure, you’re right he got the loot and bought all that land. But when you see a trailer and it shows one of the Lagina brothers clearly say “X marks the spot” excitedly, you’re tuning in right? Never mind that when they said that they edited a phrase that was “we can’t say that X marks the spot” though, because that’ll ruin the excitement!

So....there seems to be a couple similar shows to this showing up now. I completely forget the names of them but one is in Bolivia, the other in the Caribbean. Both hosted by guys with varying degrees of crazy in them but both somewhat interesting.
I've only caught a couple of episodes of the one in Bolivia but they did stumble on a cave that lead into what seems to be a large underground lake. They just found a bunch of early period coins which was kinda neat.
Y'know, in case you need other shows that have almost no hope of finding anything interesting on the nights Curse of Oak Island isn't on.

Coppers Treasure and Treasure Quest: Snake Island.
Watched the first episode and this season looks like it will be a real Bobby Dazzler.

Aw man, that's too bad. Would have been neat if they made a major discovery before he left. Glad he got to see the work going on at Smiths Cove once more before he passed though.
RIP.

Yeah I don't care.
It takes me back to my youth in Lower Sackville, and I like it.
My kids roll their eyes, my wife rolls her eyes, but hell I can't not see it out.

It is a crazy big thing growing up in NS. We did a huge chuck of Social in Grade 7 I think on this island.

I thought it was a great show, until they started throwing those Knights Templar theories and guys with divining rods, etc. I wish they would just stick with what is there and not go off on hare-brained theories. Just dig and show me what was found. That's far more interesting to me than the other stuff they throw in there.

Fair comment.
I will say the Templar theories aren't the worst.
They had that dude on that said Oak Island was connected by tunnel to Apply Island. Then there was the dude that tried to connect a star map to the island.
But I agree, focus on what you are finding or not finding and make that the basis of the show.

When I was fairly young my Grandpa was going to drill a new well on his property, he called in the local "water witch" to use the dowsing rods. He walked back and forth in the area they wanted marking a few spots. About 10-15 min later he put a rock down where he thought they should drill. They brought in the drill rig and hit really quick in that exact spot, I don't remember the numbers but it was considered to be a high producing well. I know science can't find a reason why it should work but it did that time. Maybe certain people are sensitive to changes in magnetism and physically react causing the rods to move? I don't know.
