Come in this thread after 6 weeks and this really saddens me. I haven't been there in many years and I assume with their main clientele getting much older it was a slow death.
My wife and I were married there 11 years ago and I had my 30th in their wine cellar. My Godfather worked there as a waiter in the 80's.
Good luck Joe, you once told me in the kitchen "Make food that is trendy and you'll be open a year, make it classic and it you'll be around forever."
40 years is a massive run.
Just so disappointed I never made it back one last time. They gave us a few very memorable dinners we will never forget.

Changing of the guard in Calgary for sure. With the downturn and property tax and I am sure construction it is weeding some former top places out.
The new generation is Nights and Weekends and Bar von der Fels. A bunch of great chefs in a small space.
However we’ll be going one last time to our first place. We have traveled all over since then eating so we may shed a tear into our Riesling lol.

I always found the food there unremarkable.

I thought it was quite good, but sitting near the wood oven was like sitting by a blast furnace. Too hot!

My wife and I are like you guys. We can trace our dating and married relationship through this place.

I found the food to be good and always had good service, never rushed and always attentive without being intrusive (which is key in my mind).

I think the key action plan here is we prevent OldDutch from going to anymore restaurants. He's a curse!

I thought the food was fine, just decidedly safe and average. Mind you I guess there was a time when Psy-Land-tro was exotic.

We went last night and it was very good
Chowder was excellent
We also had the hot crab in a jar and prawn cocktail
Everything was excellent
Pricey though but if you are craving good seafood it’s worth it

It's in the main floor of where Catch was, with Modern Steak upstairs.
And yes I found it to be better than Catch.

Yeah that parking lot is awful. I was two feet from being hit by a car today, right in front of a cop.

If it's anything like the one in Edmonton, I would avoid it for the first couple of weeks. The Edmonton one shares a parking lot with Walmart and it's impossible to find a parking spot near the Walmart. Lines were as long as three hours...
