But luckily, starting Sept 1, it will be easier to carry guns in Texas
Quote:
Lawmakers passed several gun-related laws last legislative session, several of those will loosen restrictions on carrying guns in public.
A measure passed clarifies that it's legal for licensed gun owners to carry in places of worship, unless there's a sign posted saying otherwise. It comes nearly two years after a gunman killed 26 people at a Sutherland Springs church.
A new law will allow licensed gun owners, including school employees, to store weapons and ammunition in locked vehicles on school campuses as long as it's out of plain view.
Another school-related law removes the cap on how many school marshals can carry guns on public school campuses.
Another new law says landlords cannot prohibit their legally gun-owning tenets from having a weapon or ammo on the property.
As a response to Hurricane Harvey, a new measure will allow handgun owners to carry their concealed firearms without a license for up to 48 hours when having to evacuate.
Another measures says foster families can now store guns and ammunition together, rather than having to store them separately.

What will it take to effect real change in the US? Half of sitting Republican senators getting mowed down while in session?

There has already been real change.
The post above yours demonstrates that.

At this point, just time to sit back and watch them kill themselves. Make a tv show out of it and call it active shooter.

I'm honestly surprised that there isn't already a show.

So what you're saying is that in this situation the active shooters are targeting the wrong people?

One of the people wounded in Texas was a 17 month old girl who was shot in the face. Thankfully it sounds like she's going to live.

Quote:
Anderson Davis suffered shrapnel in her right chest, has a hole through her bottom lip and tongue, and had her front teeth knocked out after being shot in the face, according to a GoFundMe page created by a family friend. Eric Finley, marketing director of Texas' UMC Health System, said Anderson was in satisfactory condition at a hospital in Lubbock.

I don’t know how you go about tackling that problem. It’s so deep rooted in their society and it’s now become a social norm almost. The only thing I can think of that might be semi effective is a massive buy back coupled with strict ownership/possession regulations. Your AR15 is worth $1000? We’ll give you $2000 to turn it in. I know it wouldn’t be a panacea and I’m guessing the psycho’s who do this sort of thing wouldn’t turn them in regardless. Whatever action is taken, there will be backlash and there likely will be more blood spilled. But serious action needs to be taken.

Your average American with a $1000 AR would just take the 2k and buy 2 more AR's. It's truly f'ed

Force a recall instead of a buyback. Place the cost in the hands of the gun manufacturers.
With the lawsuits against drug manufacturers for stoking the fires of drug addiction, I wonder how long it will be before the gun manufacturers are really taken to task for looking the other way.

"Your weapon has been recalled due to a dangerous flaw that may allow it to maim or kill. Please turn it in so we can fix the Hazzard."
I like it.

something like that would create even bigger problems sadly... can you imagine the reaction from militia groups like the 3% or Promise Keepers or any number of the other fringe groups out there?
there'd be Ruby Ridge type events guaranteed... all the conspiracy nuts would go off the grid and hunker down for a standoff.

Beto is fading pretty fast as far as the primary battle goes. He's not going anywhere yet, but unless he makes some pretty big leaps and bounds, he's not going to be there at the end of this thing. Castro and Klobuchar (who appears completely done) will be out next, but he's probably in the next group to drop out after that along with Booker unless something reverses their momentum.

Agreed. I like him a lot, but he should just drop the presidential bid and run for Senate instead.

Except for the innocent people dying and being injured. Perhaps a better purge would be to have a battle royale at the next NRA conference.
