Not too happy about Bianca's draw. She has Wozniacki in the 3rd round, Halep 4th round, Kvitova/Stephens quarter, Osaka in the semis and Serena in the finals.

Novak has a tough draw with Querry 2nd round match, Wawrinka/Anderson 4th round and Medvedev in the quarters, Federer in the semis, Nadal in the finals.
Nadal not much easier, he gets Millman first round who knocked out Fed last year, Cilic/Isner 4th round, Khachanov in the quarters, Thiem in the semis.
Federer gets a cake walk draw with a qualiy in the first round, only tough player is Goffin in the 4th round, Raonic/Nishikori in the quarters, Novak in the semi's.
Shapo and Felix first round again boo!!

Woz is a headcase, but that indeed is a tough draw for Bianca. I'm not sure if Serena's back will be healed in time for her to do much damage, but I guess time will tell.

Will be interesting to see if the Millman can pull off another high profile upset and knock off Nadal in round 1. He's rarely an easy out.

Vasek is in tough against Silent K no doubt, but Paire can be up-and-down, he is extremely talented, but sometimes his mind checks out and his game follows. Schnur needs to win the opening set and see if Benoit decides to stop giving a damn.

Also, no PoLLansky at this year's US Open as he falls in the 2nd round of qualifying.

Shapo might end up playing twice today as rain washed away most of Thursday's scheduled matches in Winston-Salem.

Play has resumed in Winston-Salem and PCB won the second set 6-1 after Paire took the opening set in a tie-breaker. Paire just called the trainer and is taking a MTO (groin issue).

Diez is currently up a set in his 3R qualifying match against Kwon and doesn't look to be slowing down in set #2 (which is currently on serve at 3-3).
A win would make for a record number of Canadian men (6) in the main draw of a major.
Edit: Diez has lost the match 6-4, 3-6, 3-6. Good showing but likely too over matched against the 90th ranked Kwon.

I don't know if Paire was playing possum or the ATP trainer has some magic spray, but the groin looked fine in set 3 as Benoit takes it 6-3 and is into the semi-finals.

Denis takes the first set 6-3 over Rublev. A fine set of tennis from Denis.

He's serving and returning quite well the last few weeks now. This is a great sign going into the flushing meadows.

Denis gets an early break in set 2 - Biggest change I see in his game is more patience, he's not trying to hit winners from tough spots on the court, definitely more willing to rally with his opponent and wait for the right moment to unleash a big forehand or backhand.
Edit: Back on serve as Denis fails to consolidate. Loose service game from Shapo.

All right, Shapo takes set 2 in a tie-breaker (7-4 was the tie-breaker score). Level dropped in the 2nd set, but he managed to raise his game when it mattered most. Important to get off the court as quickly as possible as it's a hot day in Winston-Salem today (31 degrees Celsius).

I think this is the event Shapo finally is able to get his first ATP level trophy. The door is wide open with a so so field left standing and he's playing as well as he has in over a year.....Keep it going Denis!

Tough match later today as he faces the winner of Tiafoe and Hurkacz. Hoping for a long drawn out three-setter between those two young guns.

I'm optimistic since he has a winning record against Tiafoe and lost a three setter earlier this year to Hurkacz. Both guys are players he should be beating if he is going to get back to the top 20 level he was flirting months ago.
It won't be a cake walk but it's certainly now or never in terms of seizing the opportunity he has at this event.

Bianca seems fine. Wozniacki in the third round isn't that threatening. Raonic gets Coric in rd3, which isn't great, but he's the 21 seed so what do you expect.
