Injuries. Lots of them. Missed an entire year because of it. Really derailed his development, he only had two goals this year.
Crazy to think that we could've had Fabbri and Parayko instead of Lindholm and Hanifin. That would've been so different.

Excellent. Now that we know what we are paying Valiev, we should know how much is left for Tkachuk

Would try to get Bennett done at something close to 4x3.4. there's value for both sides trying to get some cost certainty for an additional year or two
1 - 2.5
2 - 3.0
3 - 3.5
4 - 4.5

Isn’t Bennett’s arbitration coming up soon?

Should know about Bennett relatively soon, given the arb date is coming up. Ideally we ink him to a 2/3 year contract at around 2.5 million or so. Maybe I'm being very hopeful with the cost.

He'll get close to $2.5M on a one year deal. If the Flames want him signed longer, the AAV will need to go up.

If this goes to arbitration, and Bennett is awarded 2.5 million - doesn't the Flames then get to decide if they want to sign him to 1 or 2 years for that amount.

^ Yes but the Flames would select 1yr or else he'd be UFA at the end of the 2nd year due to having 7 years in the league

JT Compher just signed with the Avs for 4 yrs $3.5M AAV
Good comparable for Bennett to use in arbitration

I can see why they would, though it's not exact. Compher scored a few more points in a few less games (because of Bennett, oddly enough). Plus his trajectory has been consistently upwards. Compher's RHS is pretty valuable too. And he's mainly going to be a C going forward, which is worth a few dollars more.

IMO a 1- year deal is not the worst option for Bennett. Maybe just let this one go to arbitration?

Hearing that Sam Bennet for Jesse Puljujarvi trade is being discussed. I'd be all over that.

I don't like it at all. Bennett is paid properly for his role. PullUrRV is questionable on if he even has a role in the NHL at this time.

Hearing from whom?
That trade would be awful for the Flames. Bennett hasn’t lived up to expectations but it remains to be seen whether JP is or is not another Yakupov.

They were discussing it on the fan this morning.
They weren't in favor of it and neither am I.
