I’d like Ferland pre all of his concussions. I understand theres the nostalgia effect at play here though. The Ferland everyone expects isn’t going to exist anymore he can’t play that style or he’s going to wind up out of the league. Heads been rung too many times. I do not want floater Ferland.

Ferland has been linked to the Avs I believe and they can fit him in cap wise as well

Ferland is so incredibly overrated. I cringe to think of the contract he is going to get. Hopefully it is with a rival.

The bottom line is that we need more nasty on this team. It would be nice and helpful if Neal wakes the heck up next season.

I think that’s asking a lot. Neal has lost any mean streak he had.
Not a big fan of Kadri but we are a small soft team that will likely get crushed again in the playoffs.

I don’t think Calgary could, as Brodie is essentially being moved for cap reasons.

Neither will Marchand.
Or Perry.
And teams were lining up trying to get a piece of Perry even though he’s a shell of his former offensive self.

Maybe, though.
I can see him not wanting to move. He gave up money for the contractual control.
He's in a good situation in Calgary with one year until free agency. Why uproot the family twice in one year just to go to a strange new team.
Maybe he feels like he has unfinished business in Calgary, he's always seemed like a pretty loyal soldier.
A lot of guys DONT want to play in their hometowns.
I dunno, I respect a guy who wants to stay and be part of the solution.
It sucks because his contract is only a problem in so far as it relates to being moveable compared to the albatross's around him. It's not like he's a cap anchor, he's a contributing roster player that needs to get moved because no one wants the non contributing guys.

Going in with basically the same same team next season, feels like more of the same.
Last year felt like the absolute premium output this group can muster, banking on all out career years feels like a highly oiler'ish thing to do.

Okay but the flip side of that coin is that you have to think Neal can’t possibly have that terrible of a season again, we’ll have a full season/progression of Andersson/Valimaki/Mangiapane and we hopefully won’t have a goaltender that was one of, if not the worst, goalie in the league for 1/2 of the season. Jankowski and Bennett could have better years as well. To think that last years team was firing on all cylinders throughout the entire lineup isn’t accurate at all.

Brodie's being moved because there is a salary cap and guys like Valimaki, Kylington and Andersson are making moves to become full time NHL'ers. One of Brodie or Hamonic have been talked about being moved this off season since last year. The Flames are in a cap crunch, but moving Brodie isn't really part of that.
If those three young guys weren't developing at a good pace we'd be talking about his next contract here, despite our cap situation.

Really wanted him here but I'm glad management is targeting the right kind of player.

Has it been reported that Brodie for Kadri would have been one for one? That seems unlikely, no?

One of the biggest problems with this team is it has big guys that play smaller than they are, and average small guys that play to their size, and 2 guys that play bigger than they are.
Really really soft team that lost one of its few guys who played with some edge and have added nothing.

Couldn't agree more with this. With the do nothing off-season they've had, at best we can hope for another good regular season and another disappointing off season.
More heart/grit/tenacity/hating to lose, types desperately needed, not less.

Ferland has made it clear he is worried about his long term health. He has spoken numerous times about concussions.
Ferland is not the same guy who destroyed the Canucks. And he never will be again.
