Great cap hit
Good term
Plays with an edge
Center depth, easily slots in as 2C
50-60 pts easily obtainable
Get rid of Brodie giving room for Andersson to move up
Sure his antics have been questionable at times but he’s make the flames better instantly.
Too bad if true, didn’t specifically say he said no to CGY but I think it’s assumed.
It’s funny all these Toronto players after playing there seem to never want to go to another Canadian team

I don't know what to think.
I'm guessing Brodie would have gone the other way, but what else? Brodie alone wouldn't get it done.
I would not want to trade Brodie + 2020 1st or Brodie + Bennett.
Plus, there's the mindset which states: "If you don't want to be here, then we're happy you're not here." Fans don't want players with that mindset on their team.

Kadri is exactly the type of player I like. Gritty, plays on the edge, has some offensive talent, and a good contract.
I have no idea why people wouldn't want him around.
I am wondering if the cost to the Flames was just too expensive.

I think it would've been hamonic.

I believe you’re undervaluing Brodie.

There isn't even any report he was asked. Just spitballing that a Brodie for Kadri swap could make sense for both teams, like many here have said.
Couple instances of the game telephone later and we have "Kadri refuses trade to Calgary".

No one. Treliving asked Dubas if he'd trade Kadri. Dubas said, you're on Kadri's no trade list. End of call.

I think Brodie on his own is probably close in value, but Brodie only has 1 year left.
Term is quite important in determining value. Kadri has twice the term.
And I don't think it makes much sense to trade Hamonic (although his lower cap hit makes more sense for the Leafs). He actually wants to be in Calgary and will probably re-sign when his contract finishes.

Think of all the stupid things he's done and imagine him doing that playing for the Flames in an important game and ending up costing them. I'd rather not take the chance with an idiot like that.

That's not how GMing works.

Leafs are looking to drop cap so a straight swap doesn't help them as much as an extra million between Brodie/hamonic.
Hamonic is better, so has more value.
Leafs were very much interested in hamonic before he was dealt to Calgary.
Hamonic rumours were out there but all of a sudden dried up, almost as if the rumoured deal was taken off the table.

No, 100% not.
NTC's can be waived. If Treliving, or anyone, calls Dubas asking about a player with a NTC I'd imagine they talk to see what the return is, work out the framework of the deal than approach the player seeing if he'd waive.
GM's talk, GM's listen, they don't hang up just because of a NTC.

Sucks because the idea behind the trade is great. Cement that center depth with Kadri and Backlund manning the middle 2 center spots.
I'm happy because I do not like the player. I think we can do the same trade with another team.
