I didn't watch the USA - Thailand game, but Alex Morgan scored her 5th goal in the 87th minute making it 12-0 at the time (she also had scored in the 81st minute). Not sure how many substitutes the Americans brought on, but Morgan is obviously a key player for the US and you would think she would be subbed off once she recorded a hat trick in the 74th minute). One to save her legs and two the game is well in hand at that point.

Just my two cents.
They had used all 3 prior to that.

Im not an anti-USA guy like many, but this was pathetic stuff.
Especially Rapinoe. Seemed like she was the catalyst in a bunch of the celebrations, and she's a veteran. 150+ caps and her third World Cup. Inexcusable for her to have zero class and act the way she did.
That’s embarrassing. We’ve had both girls and boys shut it down when they’re killing the other side in rugby. My son (10 at the time) was celebrating and he got yanked immediately. It’s not gender, is sportsmanship (or maybe sportswomanship if you prefer?)
Its pathetic. They have known for 6 months they would play Thailand in the first game and would kill them and had choreographed these celebrations long in advanced.
The Thai players have faced many more obstacles and stigmas to play football. Yea the US will turn around and want to develop womens football around the world but not respect them.

This.
Ultimately, Gallagher nailed it. It wasnt the score that disgusted people, it was the celebrations.
Gender issue....

There's also a strawman(woman) argument being made about this where all instances of male athletes celebrating in similar circumstances needs to be eradicated before one can criticize Rapinoe, which is complete rubbish. The world doesn't need to be rid of Sean Avery types before you can call out horrible behavior when you see it.
I think the USWNT athletes in both hockey and soccer live on a different planet where any of their behavior is excused and any criticism is inherently sexist in their minds. These are the people who think that since they are at the top of the food chain in their realm that they should be celebrated and paid the same as top soccer stars like Messi or Ronaldo.
The USWNT vs. Thailand looked like this Monty Pyhton sketch and we're all supposed to be 100% okay and even celebrate Rapinoe flopping on the pitch after the 9th goal? Yeah right.
