I do hope the Steelers get to exempt list him and force him to either accept a trade or retire so they can flip the tables on him.

either you want out or you don't. Brown feels he can call the shots like he's a UFA, but he simply isn't.

I view this completely differently than Lev Bell as well. AB was under contract and acted like a diva, destroying his value and putting the Steelers in a terrible spot to trade him.
Lev bell just wanted a multi year deal because he knew the Steelers were going to franchise him (or they did) and they would give him 350 carries and ruin his long term career and health. Bell didn't have any options because of the franchise tag. Brown signed the contract.

A rare win for the Giants in dumping that contract. Decent player, just wildly overpaid.

Yeah, I don't understand that trade for the Browns. Take on a guy with a $17M cap hit whose one good season is looking more and more like a fluke.

Well it's what he deserves because the Buffalo (the Edmonton of the NFL) is not a desirable destination for most players and his ace in the hole is that he's shown that if he's not happy he's not going to play for you so the Bills really have no choice but to nix the deal as they were attempting to trade for Antonio Brown not Mr. Big Chest which is what they would get if the trade went through.

It feels to me like the Browns are trying to do too much too fast. They were on the right path last season but it feels like they are burning up their cap space for the sake of it as they go from 3rd most available cap space in 2019 to 23rd in 2020 because of long term money on current deals and it doesn't take long to go from lots of space to up against the wall and having to cut good players.

Cleveland.com reporting on the trade:
https://www.cleveland.com/browns/201...o-reports.html
Quote:
The Browns are accomplishing two key things by trading starting right guard Kevin Zeitler to the Giants for edge-rusher Olivier Vernon.
First, they’re paving the way for 2018 No. 33 overall pick Austin Corbett to get on the field, and they’re also adding that much-needed pass rusher to pair with Myles Garrett.
In addition to swapping players, the Browns and Giants also exchanged picks: the Giants are also sending the 132nd pick in the fourth round and getting 155 in the fourth round back. Trades can become official when the league year opens on Wednesday.
Zeitler, who signed a blockbuster five-year, $60 million free agent deal with the Browns in March of 2017, has three years left on his contract at $10 million, $10 million and $12 million.
Vernon has two years left on his deal at $15.25 million each year.

Yeah exactly. No doubt the AB to the Bills rumours last night was a mockery on social media, and at least appeared to be a bit of a dig at him. But after destroying his own trade value by acting like such a clown publicly, he scared off a bunch of good teams in the process who may have otherwise wanted him. Kind of shot himself in the foot there..maybe the Bills were one of the only viable options showing interest and offering decent compensation in return?

NFL teams have proposed nine rule changes for 2019, including an intriguing alternative from the Denver Broncos to bypass the onside kick.
According to the Broncos' proposal, released Friday night by the NFL, each team would have one opportunity per game to remain on offense after a fourth-quarter score. Instead of kicking off, the team would line up at its 35-yard line for what is in essence a fourth down-and-15. If the team gains at least 15 yards, it maintains possession. If not, the defense takes over.
The NFL annually invites teams to propose rule changes, but the competition committee is charged with vetting and either endorsing or allowing them to stand on their own. Historically, owners defer substantial judgment to the committee, which is scheduled to meet later this month to finalize its recommendations for 2019.

Don't like that. You score, you have to kick. Keep special teams part of the game.
Why do we keep trying to bail out teams that played poorly for 55 minutes?

The changes to the onside kick rules have made onside kicks a less than 10% chance versus before which was around 20%. NFL has made a commitment to player safety and the kickoff was unquestionably the number one most common concussion play. So if you're going to make onside kicks impossible, there has to be an equalizer. Beyond that there was no skill ever involved in the onside kick, obviously a luck play if there ever was one.

Not sure how anyone can spin this as a bad trade for the Raiders. To get arguably the best receiver in the league and a sure HOF player for a 3rd and a 5th is robbery. The $30 million guaranteed isn't nearly as high as the supposed contract demands were. It could still blow up if Brown doesn't get back to business but I feel he's a guy with a chip on his shoulder that's going to want to go out and prove he's still one of the best outside that offense. If you set the bar low and get 3 x 1000 yard seasons out of this deal it's still a total win.

Brown in Vegas....the odds he's getting arrested are so negative they might as well take it off the board. We'll see how big the Ewing effect is for the Steelers, but still not sure I'd trade him even though he is crazy. Third and a fifth isn't much.
