They don't look like the sharper of the two teams. And Tampa getting sticks and bodies in the lanes is making the Flames normally top quality passing game look very average.

Tkachuck really needs to look whee he is passing the puck. The turnovers are bad.

He knew Monahan was hurt by that point though and then Smith went down
Their season was over at that point and there was nothing BT could reasonably add that would have made a difference.

Second line needs to be split up in some way, Backlund and Tkachuk forcing things and Frolik just a big black hole.

Mine isn’t working either. Honestly it’s been crap all game - buffering and frequently low quality picture.

3M line is a collective -6 with no shots on net. WTF is happening with that trio?

I am not denying they are slumping, but so far its pretty tame.
They flew from Vancouver to Tampa to take on the best team in the NHL, IDK they get a bit of a pass for this game with me
|
It's a really terrible pocket of the schedule, 1 game home stand, northwest to southeast coast travel, extended break for all-stars, home and home with Carolina on either side. It's just odd.
Once they start playing 3 nights a week again I think you'll see them come back to life. This might be the kick in the pants they need.

I disagree to a point. Yes we want to compete with the top teams in the league and all, however when is the right time to slump? Certainly not at the tail end of the season going into the playoffs, and with only 25-ish games left I'll take the rough patch now. They need to work through this and it will make them a better team in the long run. If need be tinker a little at the trade deadline (I wouldn't mind adding a little bit more depth to the roster), but we were doing fine with the guys we've got, they should have it in them to turn things in the right direction again.

Fan logic on goaltending confuses.
So much of it seems to be “can’t blame that one on the goalie” as if goalies don’t stop quality chances consistently?
Part of being a starting goalie is stopping 91.5% or more of the shots that come at you. They make difficult saves. They’re paid to make difficult saves. They’re expected to make difficult saves.

At this time last year is right when Smith got hurt (and he was really good before then). That was the big factor, not the AS break.

Just in time to see the over reaction. Heard a bit on the radio Tampa is good and will make you pay for mistakes.
Yes Flames a notch back. Yes this should be a bit of a wakeup call to get them back on track and exposes some holes in the roster whe you don't put 100% in. Yes they need to wakeup a bit. But they haven't got this far via fluke or smoke and mirrors. They are legit and they just need to mentally stay focused.
But "regression" and "they had this coming" after 2 of 3 games vs top teams in the conference, with the other a dominant performance on Saturday, and a is starting to sound like people coming out of the woodwork, as they always do here no matter what, to begin to rush to be first to write the first chapter in Flames season eulogy and pat themselves on the back in 3 months for calling the Flames disapoiting end of the season back it in Feb.

Mine too. Although I was doing a mountain of laundry with the game on so it didn't really bother me.
It really crapped out when HQ Trivia started.
I guess I'll have it on my phone when the 3rd starts.

Would be cool to have a staff member who deals with them daily that shows them that next level.
Really cool.

That’s not fan logic, it’s just logic that some shots are harder to stop than others and it’s stupid to pull a goalie in a game where the blame for the goals is on the players.
Don’t shake the confidence of the starter when the backup isn’t going to do any better
