At least with Francis, you knew where his news was coming from... Ken King and Gary Bettman.
How will we now be regularly reminded of the Flames inevitable move to Quebec or Kansas City?

Francis is so disingenuous. Heard him talking on the Fan the other day - Wills asked him about arena stuff. He just outright lied in misrepresenting the views of the Chair of the committee, Councillor Davison. He is cheering for things to fail out of some desire to be the one able to say "I told you so" or something like that. I wish he'd just go away.

That is a pretty jaded view from you. Someone who usually is quite even keel.

Maybe it’s because he’s the only person who’s ever blocked me on twitter (for no apparent reason). Not really. In all seriousness, his comment on the radio on the arena committee had my blood boiling. I loathe that kind of dishonesty in service of some agenda.

There were several things - including the wat he framed the whole excercise as hopeless and nothing has changed, but more specifically, for example, he spuriously suggested that Committee Chair Jeff Davison is locked into a position that the City must receive a “dollar for dollar” return for public participation (and therefore the thing is DOA). This is simply not true, he has been completely open ended on what the new deal could and should be.

I think he was, but also predicted the Flames would move because the deal fell apart.

Thanks - I appreciate that. I can safely and comfortably advise there are many mistruths, halftruths and untruths out there...
I am actually much more confident something will get done now, however.

His assertion that Mike Smith is the best puckhandling goalie of all time was funny. I’d put Brodeur, Hextall, Turco and Osgood ahead of Smith, maybe more.

Hrudey has said the same thing FWIW.

Brodeur or Turco there’s an argument to be made but Smith is much better than Osgood and Hextall.

I think it's a judgement call personally, but I can see it, that shot he made at the all-star game was insane.

It has to be close. He’s very strong with the puck.
I’d say he’s better than Brodeur too, and Marty is my all time favourite player.

I think Smith's ability with the puck is one of the main reasons they really want to get him going. His ability can completely disrupt other teams game play strategy. Ie dump and chase doesn't work

Flames love his (Smith's) play with the puck and want Rittich learning from him so he can play it more too.
Wish I could find where I read that, but I'm 100% sure its out there.
So people who hate when Rittich handles the puck, I have bad news for you.

If Rittich can be as good, that's great. Right now he's a bit betwixt and between. He's good at controlling it, and he's confidently firing it up ice like Smith. But he's overconfident in his accuracy and strength.
I think Smith's up ice passing is first rate. But even better is his ability to stop a hard dump in even when it's circling the end boards up high.
