The Flames have played the hardest schedule in the league so far.
This. Being second in the league in points after facing mainly playoff teams for a full month to start the season makes me a bit hopeful that this team are capable of doing some damage.
1st one redirect on PP, 2nd one rittich had no chance on that, 3rd one questionable with perhaps a poke check... what do you guys think of Rittich’s performance tonight despite not facing that many shots.
None of them great goals, and there’d be a lot of vitriol at Smith if those went in on him.
Not square in the first one or stick on the ice, second beat him clean (screened, but Smith got crap on here for letting in his screened shot a few games ago), third one he let slide under and then he gets up and rants st the refs, when it was already through him before contact.
After going down 4-3 late in the third,the Hawks took about 4 shots from longer range, padding their shot total, but really just looking to sneak one in, and Rittich, and he didn’t look 100% comfortable as to where they were on his body.
Certinly didn’t look confident, lost the one puck that popped up in the air late in the first, and fortunate he didn’t slide too far out of the net and a Hawks player shot it into his pad. Toss in his terrible penalty too.

SO when I say stars gotta star to win. .I mean SOME of our stars must show up and make a difference to the win cause ...it would seem asking All 6 to show up and "star" is too much to ask..even for 1 game out of 82.
Why this is impossible is beyond me when each of them will have starry games (some more some a lot less over the 82) ...why all 6 cannot put it all together even 1 game of the 82 does not seem unreasonable..and yet..it just NEVER seems to happen.
It has to be a Q thing..as long as he is coaching this team...some "star" goes AWOL ...some " star " goofs up badly costing us. . Others go meh...
We just cannot get all 6 earning their high $$$$ in the same game ..
Frustrating. ..Infuriating .

FROLIK only costs $4.3 on cap hit ..he has 7 goals (no assists)...but now is +6 and probably better pk guy than Saad ...

The point this if FROLIK is "just another guy" albeit at $4.3 ...then shouldn't Saad be a lot MORE for $6.0?
KANE as I said Zero shots on goal...Saad only the 1 shot (he scored on it but barely) ...Ties had 3 shots on goal and 1 goa early..
But the point is the game on the line in period 3 and we had $27 million out there in Kane Saad and Toes ..and they muster zilch !!!Stars paid like stars gotta star ..and when they were needed to show most in period 3 ..we got Mada out of them..WHILE Flame stats like Mona Han stepped it up and even their cheaper "just another giuy"like FROLIK also stepped it

One of the Hawk's goals was on a 5-3 PP. Another was a shot that was perfectly screened. And the third he let in wasn't a bad goal really, it was just an average goal. The stats don't favour Rittich, but it's not like he was a sieve.
The Hawks had some puck luck despite being dominated.

I would blame the 'Hawks collapse on the power of the dog photos in the GT, but, the truth is the Rook D-Man, Jokiharu, got taken advantage of, Manning was bad, in coverage, and the 'Hawk third line had no offensive impact. It is not a good sign when the only consistent threat comes from a 4th line forecheck. The 'Hawks were efficient with their few chances, but, the Flames were able to generate chance after chance after chance, to grind out the W.
It was a sloppy game in many ways, but, a tough road loss for my guys and a good home win for yours.
I hope the guy Keith hit is ok, and he just sat out as a precaution.
Thanks again, for being kind hosts here...I look forward to round two, a Sunday game on 12/2.

I'm looking at the standings on my phone, and I am astonished to see the Flames sit 3rd in the league with 19 points.
Then I look at our stats page and see we have FIVE GUYS BURGERS AND FRIES playing at PPG or better. Johnny, Monahan, Tkachuk, Lindholm and Gio. That's amazing.
And we don't want to spend the resources to get a #1 goalie? This team is too good to leave the net to chance. Sorry Rittich, I have nothing against you. You may yet one day be the guy; Smith himself wasn't a full time starter until he was 29.
This team needs an ace, and they need him now.
