It went overhead on its descent to land around the sunridge costco area at about 2:07pm. So I figure it probably landed around 2:10?? I didnt get a good look at the label/badge but it didnt look like anything I had seen commonly.
Thanks.

Yes, RJ100’s the likely culprit (possibly North Cariboo’s if it’s still lurking around?), formerly known as the mighty BAe 146. Famously equipped with five APU’s.

Can you tell what's up there? This morning just before 7am I saw something that looked like it was quite high up. I thought it might be the ISS, but Skyview didn't show any satellite passing overby, and Flightaware didn't show anything either. It was heading west.

Wildcard guess would be a Google Project Loon balloon. They float up around 60,000 feet. However they also show up on Flightradar24 and there are none anywhere around Alberta right now.

And certainly wouldn't be heading west.

I am sure it was probably just a satellite then. I thought it was odd because the light from it was on/off, but I suppose some clouds could have been the culprit
Good views of Orion these last couple of mornings.

Apparently some of the old Iridium satellites have been known to flash because of their geometry as they move through the sky.
Anyway, just watching my wife’s from my YVR to PEK and wondering how accurate / real-time are FlightAware or Flightradar24? Do they just show the estimated path / location or so they get the data somehow. Wow It’s amazing how many flights are up in the air just looking at Flightradar24 around Beijing.

Seems fairly accurate.
I've used it to check planes overhead (I live under the TATL Highway which is pretty cool).

If an Emrites plane is directly overhead on a clear day you can see the marking of the red belly.
I've also used it to follow flights landing at YQY. If there isn't a delay, its within seconds in terms of accuracy. What I like about it is when picking people up from the airport, or waiting for my inbound flight to arrive I can see where it's at and see why it may be later than expected (ie: they pass the airport and turn around over the water).
Love FlightRadar24.

I understand there will be a big piece of equipment flying out of Edmonton in the next day or two on what I think is an Antonov or something. Can anyone confirm?

I'd guess it's most likely an Antonov 124 operated by Antonov Design Bureau or Volga-Dnepr.
There is currently one Antonov 124 enroute from Kiev to Portsmouth, New York. Could be that bird hops over to YEG after that.

That's what happens when you land a 747 on a wet 7,700 foot runway with a big tailwind and ATC says lol what are you doing and you land anyway.

Why were they coming in with a tailwind? I thought ATC were the ones that told them which direction to approach?

At 3 am you get whatever approach you want, unless it's YYC et al. where it's predicated on noise.
