Embarrassing. It's funny cause as you mentioned no one really cares about the Bundesliga, so you'd figure they'd want to maybe add a little drama here and there by hurting Bayern, but I guess they're cool if everything is wrapped by the end of September.

That was just a bizarre end to the match, two disallowed goals from VAR before Robben iced it in the end.
Also, not a penalty but the defender can’t go to ground there

Champions League Play-Off Action was today - AJAX, AEK Athens, and Young Boys all qualify.
Feel like the only big surprise is Young Boys. Went down 2-1 on aggregrate to Dinamo Zagreb 7 minutes in on the road, but scored in the 64 and 66 minute to come back 3-2 on aggregate.
Just one more day of play-off games tomorrow and then the real fun begins on Friday with the Group Stage Draw!

11th time in a row. You can't make this #### up ...
It's a yearly ritual by now. RBS crashing out of the CL signals the end of summer.

Aren't they the hated team though, because of all the RB money?

sure. Has changed a bit over the last years though, RB has been completely focused on Leipzig for a few years now.

That banner about Macedonia is pretty offensive to the actual country of Macedonia.

Champions League Draw Kicks off in an hour. Liverpool could find themselves in a very tough group depending on how it all plays out.
Pot 1: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Lokomotiv Moscow
Pot 2: Borussia Dortmund, Porto, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma
Pot 3: Liverpool, Schalke, Lyon, Monaco, Ajax, CSKA Moscow, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia
Pot 4: Viktoria Plzen, Club Brugge, Galatasaray, Young Boys, Inter Milan, Hoffenheim, Red Star Belgrade, AEK Athens
For example in a mock one I did this AM online I had Barcelona, Napoli, Liverpool, Hoffenheim as a group...those would be some fun games.

Purely from an entertainment perspective, would love to see a group of Barca/Dortmund/Liverpool/Inter.

Bound to happen, but it wasnt like we made it to the Finals last season based on our charm.
If you want to succeed in the CL you've gotta beat good teams.

Well they did have a bit of a "luck of the draw" last year too.
Their 12 points were the second lowest of any group winner in what was seen as an easy group with Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, & Maribor - and they didn't actually beat Sevilla as both games ended in a draw. The only group winner with fewer points was Roma but they were in a group with Chelsea, Athletico Madrid, and Qarabag - so more understood.
Then they got Porto in the round of 16, Manchester City in the QFs, and Roma in the Semi Finals after Roma's miraculous comeback knocked out Barcelona for them.
Compare that to the CHAMPIONS Real Madrid (just need to remind Liverpool fans of this because I think sometimes they think getting to the finals means they won).
2nd in a tough group (with Tottenham, Dortmund, & APOEL but 14 pts was still more than Liverpool). Then they had to go through PSG, Juventus, & Bayern Munich to get to the final.
So Liverpool didn't actually beat a reigning league champions from any of the top 5 leagues - and their only real tough team was Manchester City - and I feel like when teams from the same domestic league play each other in the CL it's always a bit of a toss up.

Madrid's knockout run last year has to rank as one of the hardest ever. And had City beaten Liverpool, they probably would have beaten four of the five champions of the Big Five Leagues to win. Don't think enough is made of how impressive that run was.

Yeah the toughest ever is probably 14/15 Barcelona - who may actually be the best team ever - as they actually did beat four of the five champions of the Big Five leagues to win the CL.
Round of 16: Manchester City (EPL - 1st) 3-1
Quarter Finals: PSG (France - 1st) 5-1
Semi Finals: Bayern Munich (Germany - 1st) 5-3
Finals: Juventus (Italy - 1st) 3-1
And even though they weren't the league champions coming into that season in Spain (Athletico were) they did win La Liga that season.

I've never cheered for Real in the CL. All that 'decima' stuff a while back was nauseating.
Now I find myself partial to them this season just to see how much Modric can add to his legacy. Five titles would be something.

The 2017 CL was no cake walk either for Madrid. Bayern, Atleti, Juventus for the final three games.

They could have just said the draw was at 10:30 and saved everyone 30 minutes.
