Yup. So was the penalty Everton was awarded and both penalties Tottenham got.
As the English say, it evens itself out over the course of the season.
Liverpool have gotten some pretty raw calls against as well.

Yeah, the real question is: Do you want this game called by the letter of the law?
Its the same with hockey. I dont think people would like it much if it was actually called by the rule book.

I think it's quite different from hockey - football has a much more pronounced history of cheating, corruption and incompetence.

When was Benteke fouled in the box?
Mane definitely should have been off, no idea how he got away with that.

He played the ball through and was brought down. Around 85th minute. To be fair, I was working out, so not exactly glued to the action.

Ya the reply showed Benteke grabbing a handful of shirt and stumbling down on that one. Definitely not a foul. I think it was more a case of hoping for a make up call after the botched Mane call.
Salah is amazing though. The second you could see the ball going towards him you already knew it was going in the back of the net. What a massive difference maker he is.

For me if we're talking MVP, it's gotta be De Gea. I think you take Salah off Liverpool, and they're probably close to Chelsea on points, maybe slightly behind. I think you take De Gea off United, and they're below Arsenal on points. And I think both teams are screwed if, as nik says, Papa Flo comes calling this summer.

good thing then that Papa Flo will never pay 100m+ for a goalkeeper
I think "they'd be below Arsenal" is quite an exaggeration on your part, but I agree with the overall point. Both Salah and De Gea have saved their teams' asses way too often this season.

Both very correct points.
Goddamned Papa Flo.

I mean yeah, obvious hyperbole with behind Arsenal. But they're the two best in the world at their positions, it'd be a shame to not see them in the PL next year.

Best in the world is pretty high praise for Salah considering he's basically playing the same position as Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar.

The "let's give David Silva and De Bruyne all the space in the world" tactic was not a good choice for Big Sam.

Pretty big week coming up for City. Champions League vs Liverpool and the chance to clinch the title against United. What an age we live in.

well if they do clinch it next week, then at least they can do it in a full stadium.
in all seriousness, as a fan I'm not too fussed about it tbh. City's title has been wrapped and dusted for months anyway, and them clinching at Old Trafford wouldn't sting nearly as much as, say, Arsenal winning it in 2002 or Agüeros injury-time winner in 2012.

Nothing will touch the 2012 title for drama. I'm actually far more interested to see if City can topple the giants of Spain and Germany in Europe. I'm really getting bored with Real winning every god damn year.

Fun stat of the day: Salah has 29 league goals so far this season. That's the same as the entire teams of Burnley, Southampton and Stoke, and more than Brighton, Swansea, Huddersfield and West Brom.
