Cant wait to watch that line!

Benny and Lazar will be different THIS time ...I swear!
It can obviously go one of two ways. They're decent or they stink.

Truth of the matter is that this line hasn't been good as of late , but now will get faster and might be able to play more of a transition game. It will definitely be interesting and noticeably different without Brouwer on that wing. For better or worse, we'll find out.

You can question his hands, speed, and how he’s deployed, but you can’t argue he isn’t one of the toughest guys on the team.

Will be interesting to see how this alters the pp and to see if Brouwer is indeed the boat anchor he seems to be for those who play around him.

Brouwer is not good at hockey. It's really unfortunate for him that he's injured, but the man is not a good hockey player at this stage of his career. The game has left him behind.

That said, I hope the injury isn't too serious. Speedy recovery, Troy.

This is the hard truth.

He is still making is linemates worse. Money doesn't bug me at this stage of the year, he's on the team. He's the worst roster player on the team, and makes those around him worse.

I think he is though.

Every line he's on seems to be better once he's off it. Granted he played with some jam on the Backlund line and filled in in a pinch... but that line was worse off and improved immensely once Frolik was back.

The fourth line seemed to play better with him off it, and right now the the third line looks all out of sync.

He seems to be the common denominator. He's been okay in spots and has played a few solid games here and there... but to me he's still a black hole most of the time.

I hope he's ok but I think the lineup looks a lot better without him. If he wasn't injured I'd have much preferred he be sitting in the press box at this point.

Isn't New Jersey where Giordano tore his biceps a few years ago?
The Devils' rink = injury Hell for the Flames.

I don’t mind analysis about how this impacts the team (positively or negatively). But posts that simply bash Brouwer seem unnecessary and mean spirited in this thread.

When you win a Stanley cup and score 20 in the NHL you can make millions too

Ouch. First Frolik, now Brouwer.

I would give Lazar a shot on the third line -- might be his last chance to make an impression this year (assuming Vertsteeg is back before the season ends). Maybe rotate in Hathaway and see who's willing to grab that spot.

Also, does this open up a spot where Klimchuk or Foo could get a callup to play on the foruth line? I didn't see too much from Hrivik, Lomberg shouldn't be more than an energy guy, and Mangiapaine should stay in the AHL unless it's to fill in on the third line.

Hope he heals up quick as he's getting better each game. This hopefully ends our injuries this year as I'd like us to be as healthy as possible down the stretch.

I sure would like to see Tkachuk with the first two.

That's difficult to hear. Brouwer is a useful forward, if Casserly overpaid, and the Flames need all the NHL-calibre forwards they can get.

Hard to hide from Brouwer's stats.

Three regulars have an up tick playing with Brouwer

Matt Stajan - +4.52 CF%
Michael Stone - +1.27 CF%
Curtis Lazar - +.33 CF%

Those that struggle with him ...

Monahan -12.8
Frolik -12.3
Bennett -9.9
Giordano -8.4
Hamilton -8.3
Jankowski -7.9
Gaudreau -6.4
Backlund -4.4
Hamonic -4.3

etc etc etc

Not trying to dump on the guy, and I do think they have to manage this to get the most out of him, but the numbers don't lie.

Yeah, I think the place where this hurts the Flames the most is on the penalty kill.

Lazar will check in and Lomberg stays up. But IMO both will be on the fourth line with Stajan. I believe GG will go with Hathaway on the third line if for nothing else but familiarity since he's played there a lot. If not, Lazar gets the spot.

Does week to week equate to placement on the IR and a callup?

I wouldn't mind seeing a guy like klimchuk/poirier/shinkaruk get a shot, need to figure if these guys fit in any long term scenario with the team or not anyways.
