Patience is paying off for the team and the fans.
There is a lot of growth potential with this team, too. Very excited.

Unreal goal-tending this season.

Who would have thunk it.

Loving this Smith / Rittich tandem. Both of them are playing lights out. Gives me a really good feeling about the last half of the season... and beyond!

After the empty net goal, this Flames fan got a little exuberant because of all the free alcohol available to him by being in the Club Lexus section. This fan decided to express his joy by hammering like crazy on the glass next to the Flames bench screaming "#### yeah boys! Came all the way from Calgary for this one! ####ing rights!" To which Moller turned around, gave him the stink eye, and shook his finger indicating that the fan shouldn't do that or anything like it again. The drunk fan then flails his arm, losing his watch over into the area that Moller is standing in. Moller can't hear the fan calling out to him to get his watch, so the fan reaches through the small hole in the glass used to speak through and grabs Moller by the shoulder. Moller pivots and cocks his fist like he's ready to beat the crap out of whoever is touching him. The fan starts saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I just lost my watch down there", pointing to the area Moller is standing in. Moller looks down, finds his watch, and then tosses it on the ice. He then turns to the fan and says "that's what happens when you act like an a**hole". Then one of the Panthers players (Mackenzie Weegar I believe) sees the watch on the ice, skates over and picks it up, and brings it back over to the fan. Immediately following this, Moller has a conversation with about 6 other Panthers players as to what just happened.

Never seen anything like that from a broadcaster. I was fascinated by the exchange.
This story alone should make you ask to come back to the light side,

I would $#&@*+% hate Tkachuk on any other team.

Man, I love that kid.

I’m preparing myself to hate Brady.

This may actually work out for the best for Gillies - the better Rittich plays, the more likely the Flames will move him to a team that has an opening for him.

I'd prefer to keep Rittich for at least the remainder of the season. He's a FA at the end of this season anyway. Why even think about messing with and getting rid of a great thing they have going this year, which is a great goalie tandem??

Yeah 7 goals given up by Parsons in his first AHL game was not impressive.

Right now Gillies is stuck in limbo. The Flames have been figuring out what they have in Rittich and while they are unsure of what kind of goalie they have, they are unlikely to move any of their goaltending pieces. Once the Flames believe Rittich is the real deal, they will likely see Gillies as a moveable piece at the deadline or at the draft which could get him into a better situation.

Sorry that was really unclear - I meant they would move Gillies.

With his goal tonight, Johnny pulls into a tie for 2nd overall in NHL scoring.

I don't see it that way at all. It frees up the starter role for Gillies to run with in Stockton, and allows Parsons to get his feet wet at the AHL level.

Nothing wrong with Gillies starting in the AHL next year too. Goalies can take time to develop and nothing happening right now means we have to move anyone.

Would love to see this Smith / Rittich tandem next year too if things continue well with Gillies and Parsons splitting starts in Stockton.

Gillies is still waiver exempt for one more year. No need to rush him out of here. This is Rittich's last year of being exempt from waivers. Glad David is showing so well so far as long as it continues Smith and Rittich will both be back next season. Gillies and Parsons splitting the workload the rest of this season and next in Stockton is the way to do it.

Flames 4 Panthers 2

- Gaudreau and Monahan rolling again
- Rittich was a force in a back to back game
- Tkachuk greasy as hell on the road
- 6 straight wins

Neither Gillies or Parsons has overly impressed this year but they’re 23 and 20 years old respectively. Way to early to write either off. I would highly wager Gillies is re-signed or qualified in the off season and the same tandem runs in Stockton next year. Loving Rittich though, whoever scouted this guy deserves a bonus.

I hope the Flames aren't in a hurry to shed goaltenders.

Lack was a smart move until someone showed they were ready, they promote Rittich, does the job and then moved Lack to make room on the farm to promote Parsons.

But Smith is 35 with another year left on his deal.

If Rittich continues on his way it wouldn't be a terrible thing to have Gillies pushing him in a young tandem with Parsons wanting in.
