I'll narrow it down to the last 5-6 games actually.
I've never expected Brodie to be the stalwart defender, but he does pretty well if he plays to his strengths. He actually made a really nice defensive play right before he gave it away, but it's all for naught if you can't control the puck behind your net with little pressure on you.
There's been quite a few plays lately that were unforced errors. It looks like he just lacks concentration when the pressure is off, and then he makes bad passes/handle the puck poorly, and all of a sudden it's a grade A chance the other way.
He's too talented to see that on a nightly basis. Once in a while, sure, everyone has those nights. What we're seeing is a trend, and it's concerning.

Talk about what? This team has been on a tear offensively and they went up against a very well coached and big defensive team with a Vezina candidate. Not to mention the ice was terrible which really hurts a guy like Gaudreau.
This was a good test for the Flames and they got a point out of it.

Fair enough but he has been guilty of coughing up pucks in the defensive zone quite often this season.

I really didn't like what he and Backlund were doing there just skating in a circle and nobody trying to get into position for a shot. I also don't understand the mentality of simply taking a low percentage shot in OT when you have possession as the idea is to set up a player for a high percentage chance. That was played poorly for sure.

Sometimes you gotta tip your cap to the opposition; thats a very good Columbus team. Happy we got a point, because we were outplayed in every facet of the game. Onto the next one

It's not like they started...the top two groups just had extended shifts. I was excited to see what they could do...never got a chance

I've never been on board the trade Brodie campaign. He was homegrown, and he had a good season a while back. However, he has been absolutely horrible lately. Beyond horrible. I still think he has tons of value and would like to trade him now. He has been too bad for us right now, and I do not think we can win with him on our team.

A point is good in a contest like that. Unfortunate error. We also didn’t do enough with the minute and a half possession at the start of OT - couple weaker shots to the chest of Bobrovsky.

And in retrospect, considering the game was almost certainly over with that goal mouth scramble with about 6 minutes left in the third where the puck miraculously stayed out of the Flames net, I'll take the one point.

Backs was there if there was any rebound. Perhaps Frolik could've shot it low on the pads but it was off his back foot

They are so good at blocking shots and taking away shooting lanes, combined with SB and that D and that is a tough time to generate offence against.

This place is so predictable lol.
Lose in ot on the road and we are firing coaches and trading Brodie. That was a horrendous giveaway but we should probably let him work his way out of this since he has won us a few of these.

I thought that was one of the better games from Harmonic and Brodie in awhile.
Too bad the gaffe led to the GWG.
Also, the game was so tight, it didn't feel like we got dominated. Columbus was the better team for sure though.
I thought it was a pretty okay road effort from the Flames. Ill take the point.

Are you for real? A give-away like that is unacceptable do you want me to draw you a diagram or something?

Glad they kept pushing for the OT point. They were in complete control of OT until Jankowski Versteeg Brodie were put out as a combo. Lost control of the OT tempo right away. Brodie giveaway was a head scratcher handled the puck like a live grenade.
Flames had a terrific effort tonight inspite of the scoreless game.

Yeah the contrast between these two teams defensively was night and day. I actually think this was one of the better played games by the Flames defensively but the Jackets play such a better team game that it's hard not to see that the Flames need a lot work on the defensive side of the game.

Come on, he is not beyond horrible. He is a very good offensive D man who has had gaffes in the D zone this year. He is still very valuable as a point producing D man and he can still fix whatever is wrong with his game in the D end.
