I sincerely could not have guessed if you were generally negative or positive about the team. We have far better things to do then sit around and talk about who we like and don’t like. This ain’t high school.

I don't recall the instances I've used the report tool, but I would've known that I never used it to report someone attacking me. Because I know it will never happen. I can handle people attacking me, and I would deal with them as I feel is appropriate. I've never blocked a person (unless mods have blocked on my behalf), because I can handle any message towards me so long as I able to respond.
What I can't handle is people ganging up on a new user, a negative user who's making a valid point, or people ganging up on a young user. Maybe you're right that mods don't discuss members, but if there isn't discussions, maybe THAT's the problem.
In my opinion, active moderating should involve PMing suspect users, asking them about their post history if its questionable. It should be explaining why posts get deleted with PMs to the users. It should involve leading the discussion, if the discussion is sour. It should be swallowing pride, recognizing the validity in a discussion even if they disagree, and showing members how rationale counter-arguments can be made without it resulting in insults. It should be reflecting on their own actions -- possibly overturning infractions if emotions consumed a decision.
Perhaps members can look at my post history and say "you're one to talk..." but people should know I cannot delete insulting posts -- I can only respond to them. And when I see a gang-up that involves mostly insults towards a new user who's not scared or unknowing of the group mentality, as much as I would like to delete the insults, I can only show my support to the victim by posting a similar to message to theirs. Or by attacking their attackers.
That's the result of inactive moderating, in my opinion. People police themselves, with the worst possible tools.

I didn’t disclose anything except how often he has used the report button.

You disclosed info that is normally private for all users. What else are you going to selectively disclose about certain people, because they happened to post something? What you did is unfair I don't care what they posted, if you have an issue with it then take it up privately.
FYI the quote function doesn't always work properly for me.
BTW I am generally not interested in what is fair or not on a public forum I don't consider it a right to post here. But disclosing moderator data about someone, that's uncool.

I remember when “online bullying” and “piling on” was called “being on the internet”.
Not saying it was right or better. Just that you needed a thicker skin.
I think the Mods and site have evolved with the times, and the site is richer as a result.
This is probably the 5th or 6th “CP ain’t what she used to be! I’m leaving!” style thread I can recall. Just know that if you are one of those folks... don’t let the door hit you on the way out. There are a bunch of smart young guys and gals who will be welcome here to take your place.
And they won’t feel the need to call progress and equality “being overly PC”.

We can agree to disagree. He implied that he had used the report tool and it was ineffective. I corrected the facts.

It was before the puns. I saw Calgaryblood make a joke, and then someone saying it was his "schtick" to being critical. I stopped reading from there.

If someone posts something that isn't true, how else would you expect someone to respond. It might be crossing the line but if I was a mod I would probably respond they way Wild GM did. You can't let false info go without correcting it. There wasn't much choice IMO.

I don't think you did. I never stated I reported someone attacking me, you inferred it. I stated my reports were ineffective -- in that I've reported messages that I could see were still present the next day, therefore they were never deleted.

A lot of the activities you describe are things we do. It is a shame that you perceive that moderating is inactive as I assure you it isn’t. But that’s your perception and therefore your take, one you are entitled to have
For what it’s worth online bullying has probably been a topic we’ve discussed the most in the last couple years. It concerns us when we see it on here and we do our best to act. Posters have been banned for it. Perhaps not fast enough in some cases but that’s hard to say.

Exactly my point. They said it was getting ‘stale’. Like stale bread. It was another pun, but you misinterpreted it because you’re looking for negativity.

Or you know, Jiri could've denied it without going into specific numbers
That would've worked too

Well sometimes we disagree that a post should be deleted. I won’t get into details of what you reported unless you want me too but I can say both times it was reviewed, discussed but we didn’t agree that the posts needed to be removed

It's bigger than that. Now someone can say, hey this member only reported two posts and they are complaining about the moderating. They should have reported more instead of complaining publicly. I can't use said info about anyone else in this discussion because that info is not normally available. You don't see this as a problem?

I don't. Not that it matters what I think.
Maybe some people need to take a step back and realize this is just a fun hockey forum. If you think how often you report a post is privileged information...or more importantly...that it matters at all, I think you're just taking this too serious.
MarkGio reported two posts, the world knows now and the stock market hasn't gone crashing down yet.

No I guess I don’t.
He raised the issue of reporting being ineffective in his experience.
If I revealed specifics of who and what he reported I would agree with you, but I didn’t

Report the posts and don't enflame the situation further by attacking posters. It often becomes a ying yang of posters going back and forth and taking the thread further off topic. Let the mods do their job of defusing the situation.

Ok, you're right that I misinterpreted that discussion. But anyone who's lurked here for a while know a few guys are famous for being jumped on. And since Calgaryblood is someone I see it happen to regularly, I assumed it was the same ol' unreasonable jump. The mangiapane thread was a bad example, but I'm sure there are plenty of good examples.
Like I said, I don't engage here anymore (and don't intend to). I now skim pages very quickly with hopes of avoiding the unhealthy discussions. I look mostly for embedded tweets or news links.
