Yes, I'm sure 3 assists in 7 AHL games Puljujarvi is gonna jumpstart their offense.
What a terrible franchise.

He holds on to the puck for too long, every single time....

Honestly, what's up with Puljujarvi? He was touted so high but hasn't even shown a sniff of NHL ability yet. Like nothing. He's not even really showing anything in the minors. So weird.

But, but he had a bunch of shots over those last two games so he's due for a breakout any day now, because the last year or so doesn't count maaaaaan

IIRC leading up to the draft, some fans were wanting to trade Backlund just to move up a couple spots so we could draft Puljujarvi.
Backlund + 6th OA (Tkachuk) for 3rd OA (Puljujarvi)
Yikes

I wouldn't have liked Backlund in that deal but I was definitely hoping the Flames would spend big and move up to get him. Can't believe it looking back. I misread that entire draft, I was certain Tkachuk wouldn't be the player that he is today.

Treliving already got the second-leading scorer of all-time. I guess Gretzky should be waiting for a call.

I'd go after Mario Lemieux first, Brett Hull second. Just say no to former Oilers.

This is not a bring Jarome home post, I just haven't been following along closely, is he done for the season?

Could had Shipachov for nothing. 30 years old but it would've been a decent gamble.
Not sure who's out there the Flames could get.

Taking a while to get to 5000

$4M cap hit. Would have had to move someone out for a roll of the dice on an unproven player. Not happening.

A story came out the other day (look for SureLoss post) that Hockey Canada invited him to participate in a pre-Olympic tournament this month, but he turned them down because he recently had minor surgery on his hip. He might be available for another pre-Olympic event in December.
I'd say if the New Year arrives and he still hasn't played a game, he's probably done.

Says who? He took 4M to play in vegas
doesn't mean the Flames had 4M to give or if he would have come here

Rick Nash, Evander Kane, James Neal, JVR, Perron, Josh Bailey, JT Miller, Duclair, Tobias Reider, Sam Reinheart....the list goes on and on. Those are just some of the names that might be available because of their contract status. Guys like Reinheart and Reider are RFA's and their teams probably won't trade them but there's a chance.
I still think Mark Stone from the Sens would be the absolute best fit on this team. I doubt they would ever trade him though.
Point is, there are options out there and I think BT will find someone soon.

Been saying it for years. I wish the Flames could snag Tobi Reider from the yotes. He is the Jam that top line is missing. However, Ferland is beginning to show he plays the very same style as Reider... but it would be nice to have both.
JT Miller is tearing it up in NYR, something like 11 pts in 14 games. He ain't going anywhere. As for the others, either too expensive cap wise or too inconsistent and not worth the gamble IMO
