In NY right now. We were going to go by that area on The way to Ground Zero, but had tickets to Top of the Rock at that time. So many screwed up people in this world.

Glad the Police were so quick to respond. Sounds like it could have been worse.

The important question is whether or not he took the insurance on the rental.

I hate the way the media responds to these events. The perpetrators should be publicly ridiculed and shamed, and not go down as martyrs.
I know it'll never be this way. It's not PC, and more importantly, fear sells.

Martyrs?
I actually think the media handled this one very well. They released appropriate information as they received it and didn't jump to any conclusions.

sad that Islamic Terrorism is becoming so common this thread is sort of quiet, really.

Time to dig out my "ban high capacity assault trucks" analogy meme from the thread from literally last month from the Edmonton truck attack.
These radical islamic terrorists need to GTFO and realize their religion (like any) is nothing worth dying or killing over. Bunch of brainwashed SOBs.

There may be some of this, but it's America, 8 people dying in a mass casualty event simply doesn't rate, unless it's 8 young children. I mean 50 people died not even a month ago and it's already forgotten.

So is Trump going to add Uzbekistan to his Muslim ban? I'm sure his administration is hard at work crafting version 4.0 as we speak.

Doesn't really speak to Uzbekis, but again, reinforces the belief to stop radical muslims from coming in, ditto to refugees (rightly or wrongly, its about optics)
But ya, wouldn't surprise me if he adds Uzbekistan in a temporary measure while their intel agencies get a grip on what the deal was with this dude

I see Uzbekistan as a different animal than the countries typically listed on Trump's travel bans. The Uzbek government does not support Islam within their borders, in fact, they actually seem to push their people away from religion. They are desperate to distance themselves from links to terrorism but unfortunately it seems to come up fairly frequently with Uzbek citizens abroad (this one, the Sweden truck attack, the Attaturk bombing).
I think it's clear that the intents of Trump's bans are less for actually keeping America safe and more for putting pressure on the governments of the countries they affect. In Uzbekistan's case, their government has already bought in on the prevention of Islamic terrorism. What would a travel ban really accomplish except to limit the already-limited opportunities for Uzbek people?
But then again, who knows with Trump. His priorities certainly don't lie with anyone but America. At least that's what he'd have people believe.
