Still not sure he is in our top 3, but yes, I was underrating him.

He has speed and goes like a madman. I'll be shocked if he isn't in the NHL by 21 and 20 wouldn't surprise me at all.

He didn't play in the WJC as an underager though and his 1.35 P/PG were in the dub not the AHL.

He played last year in the WJC which I consider underage since its mainly a last year eligible kind of tournament (at least for Canadians) which is what I meant.
And yeah - should have edited that AHL/WHL error. Good catch.

Maybe Cramarossa is released?
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames practice is underway at the Stampede Corral this morning. Don’t see Cramarossa out there.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Apologies for an iPhone 6 in a dimly lit arena, but here’s Mike Smith’s white pads (road?) setup for those that dig on goalie gear. #Flames

Looks like Bartkowski is front runner for #6
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames lines a little all over the place at practice today. Defence pairings are pretty set, though.

Hope I won't have to hear anymore about the likes of Cramarossa, Gazdic and Glass very soon.
I don't care that Glass has looked good in his 2 preseason games + a nice playoff run last year, it's way too small a sample size and it sure doesn't override the fact that the rest of his career he's shown that he's a horrible hockey player.
Really, really, really wish they hadn't signed Gazdic to anything, nevermind a two-way AHL-NHL deal. Now that was a cruel joke. What a stupid move.

Interesting. Wonder which one of Kulak/Andersson stays up?
Nevermind, dumb of me. Kulak requires waivers. Andersson goes.

If the thought is that Bart will be the #6, then my guess would be Kulak

I'm very ok with that. Of the slow useless goons he was the slowest and most useless.
Gazdic on waivers next please

This will upset some:
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames lines today:
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Versteeg-Bennett-Brouwer
Glass-Stajan-Hamilton
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Extras today are Jankowski, Lazar, Gazdic, and Hathaway. Cramarossa not out there. #Flames

meh, "dense" is a bit harsh. We're talking about the #6 guy playing around 10 mins per night of sheltered time.
For all his faults, bartowski was the #6 guy here for the latter part of last season and the playoffs, and looked satisfactory being paired with Engelland. If stone can play to a level equivalent of Engelland, then i think that 3rd pairing should be fine.
Kulak has more confidence in carrying the puck and seems to have some offense in his game, but is worse defensively and under pressure. Perhaps the flames value those more for the #6 guy.....

I definitely hate that 4th line. Actually makes me miss Chiasson and Bouma

They talk up Bennett alll off-season/pre-season, and then stick the plug Brouwer on his line - i would actually prefer Lazar over Brouwer at this point.

I look it as the three fighting for the 12th and 13th roster spots. Hathaway Lazar and Janko will take spots 10 11 and one of 12 13 or 14. So those three have to fight for both spots in the NHL lineup and spots in the NHL period.

Yeah...I was "freaking out" a few pages ago about Bennett being stuck with Brouwer....and Bartkowski making the team...
I was told that I was overreacting and that it's only preseason..
well...there you have it folks. I guess my overreaction from the other day is sufficient for today as well.

I agree, I think/hope that's the case.
Play Glass-Stajan-Hamilton next game and the best player gets the spot out of the 3.
Janko has played 4 games already, he'll probably get 1 more at most.

they have to use the preseason to see where brouwer fits in. Hopefully he has an awesome game signaling a bounceback year, or he fast fails, and the flames can quickly relegate him back to the 4th line...
