I highly doubt this would happen, but if it did I would still follow them. I've loved this team through thick and thin the past 25 years.

I'm not sure I want to continue following the team now.

I have been sitting back reading and reading not saying anything. but this is a comment I could not let slid. Are you frickin kidding me!!!!????? Wow I will never ever cheer for them! A franchise built on gifts like the non drafted Gretzky and lotto balls McDavid. And you would cheer for them!!!!???? Oh and by the way the Flames are not leaving Calgary

Nope. Id invest my interest in another team. Then I would add Seattle to the list. EDM, Seattle and Vancouver can all burn. Sadly, I think there's no other Canadian team I'd cheer for except maybe the Leafs. I like their forwards almost as much as I like the Flames'.
And that's an uncomfortable feeling.

I think I would. With the Internet and television nowadays it is far easier to follow a team that doesn't reside in your city.
Though I really don't know if my interest would wane or not.
And I think an interesting question is if one makes an assumption (large one at that) that Calgary would eventually get another team (expansion or move) would you be more likely to follow that team or continue to follow the Seattle Flames?

It's a bargaining tactic! The Flames are not leaving Calgary!

It is, of course it is. The hypothetical question was asked, it's a fair conversation point at this moment.

If I still followed the NHL (which I don't think I would), I would always prefer the Seattle Flames over whatever new team we got (I don't think we would get a team for a long time though, if ever).

I'd switch allegiances for sure, but would definitely be a bandwagon fan for whoever is an underdog in the playoffs. Other than the Oilers and Canucks.

And besides, if I were to guess as to which city they'd go to as early as tomorrow, it would be Kansas City.
To add to that, has there ever been a franchise that has relocated twice...TWICE in the modern era? Its not going to happen.

I would not. With all of the things I deem wrong with the NHL (rules, reffing, schedule, lockouts), it's really only the Calgary Flames that keep me interested. If they were no longer in Calgary, I'd probably be reduced to watching some of the first round and some of the last round of the playoffs.

Absolutely. I've followed you the Raiders from LA to Oakland to Vegas. This will be a little different but given my dislike of the other Canadian teams it would be fairly easy to transition to being a fan of Seattle. If Calgarians don't want an NHL team it is what it is.

Of course not. My favorite part of the team has always been the "Calgary" part.

Without a new arena Calgary won't ever be getting another team. Its no coincidence with the timing as Seattle would be a lucrative market and the NHL would probably like a head start on the NBA in that market.
