Related to the other thread, curious how people would act in this scenario:
You are at the end of your hike and heading back to your car. As you approach the main highway where you parked your car, you see a gym bag on the ground on its side. Curious, you look around for an owner, see no one and you flip it upright and unzip the bag to find stacks of bills in $50 and $100 denominations inside. You see the stacks are held together with labels indicating the total value of each stack and the $50 stacks are $5,000 each and the $100 stacks are $10,000 each. You don't count them but there must be 60-70 stacks in the bag by your estimate.
You also see a few things in the bag wrapped and taped up in the shape of bricks, maybe 3 or 4 of them. One seems to be punctured and there's some white powder that has come out of it, into the bag. You look around again and there's not a person around.
What do you do? Do you take the entire bag with you? Do you remove the assumed to be drugs and take the money?
What do you do with the cash if you take it? Do you call the police and give them the cash and drugs so they can deal with it? Maybe you leave the bag there for someone else to deal with?

I take the entire bag. I proceed to go the opposite direction of my home and throw the bag and drugs (keep the money) on the side of the road about 10km up. I continue going the wrong way and do an approximate 4 hour loop back to my house. I tell no one about the money and spend it as 'going out cash' on various outings.
hypothetically.

A wallet is one thing, its something that can occasionally be lost and I find a compulsion to try and return it to its owner.
A whole bag is a whole other thing.
The owner could be stupid or trusting or who knows?
If its at a park or something just let the appropriate people know that its there and if its still there when they're done maybe they should do something about it. They presumably have a process. Otherwise call the local authorities.
Whats next?

What? No, you obviously fix any broken wheels and sell it to a competing store!
There's a lot of good money in carts.

I take it home, throw in under my double-wide, and proceed to try and have sex with my wife. I think I'd probably lay in bed for awhile that night before feeling guilty about it all, so I'd head back to where I found the bag to see if anyone is still around that needs assistance or something. Hopefully that'd be the end of it, though I have a sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't be.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. I would leave it. There is a tracking device ensconced within one of those stacks of bills and Javier Bardem with a bad hair cut and a cattle gun is coming to retrieve the bag.
I might look around for an owner. If I didn't see anyone, I would ignore it and drive away. But I work at the airport, so all unattended packages are potential bombs to me. Haha...
If, for some reason, I discovered there was money and drugs inside (if it was open and I could see in) I would not touch it and would call the police to report it.
Not that I have anything against drugs, but if you start trying to sell bricks of cocaine that kind of thing might make it back to whoever lost the bag.

I don't know if living in fear would be worth it to be honest. I would definitely want the money, but would have to immediately move to like Cuba or something.
