Just to play along, I'll say Sam Bennett gets traded in December. Gets off to a rocky start, while Jankowski comes in flying and makes him expendable.
(Although I actually think Sam has a big season and scores ~55 points)

Treliving doesn't strike me as someone who would ever sell his first ever draft pick on a low
If Jankowski comes in flying then Backlund would be expendable too

Ths only roster player I could see being moved is Matt Stajan.

Not really, because to make Bennett expendable, Jankowski would need to be outproducing him, while playing competent 2 way hockey and getting some reps in on the PK.
To make Backlund expendable, he would need to come in and start scoring at a 50+ point pace, while making a living starting in the defensive zone, pushing possession, and all while being an elite penalty killer. Jankowski will (99% guarantee) not be doing that so it's safe to say it's much harder for him to make Backs expendable than Bennett.
But, I think all three will be in Calgary having success next season, and for the foreseeable future.

I predict there will be no roster players traded this season unless something goes horribly wrong and the Flames are sellers at the deadline. Treliving seems like a GM that likes to do most of his moves during the off season. During the last season he only made two trades with Jokipakka being the only roster player shipped out.
Backlund is going to be a Flames for life and even if Bennett is made expendable due to Jankowski he won't be traded until the draft.

Stajan. Maybe Versteeg.
Outside of that I could see flames parting with wotherspoon, shinkaruk, klimchuk or Poirier as part of deadline upgrades

Backlund. He's going to end up on the third line and the Flames won't be able to afford the salary he's going to demand.

Backlund was the Flames best player last season and finished 4th in Selke voting ahead of Toews. What makes you think he will be a third liner? Even if he is, won't that mean his salary demands will be reduced?
Backlund only gets traded if the Flames are sellers at the deadline and he hasn't signed an extension by then.

They better not be sellers at the deadline. Unless it's a Glencross like move where they get something for someone they don't need.

Backlund is that type of hard-to-find player you want on your team for a cup run. Can't see the Flames trading him unless this season is a failure.

If anyone it will be Stajan at the deadline because some of the youngsters will be pushing him out of the lineup.

No way Backlund is traded. He might be the most important forward on the team.
