Iginla Destination Discussion
Where does the old guy end up?
Keeps popping up in other threads, so you can consider this a public service.
Only rumour I've stumbled on so far is the Oilers. How would this effect his legacy and fan perception?
How much does he have left in the tank and how much does he sign for?
My guess: 1 year 2m with 2m bonuses. Predicting 22 goals and 39 points in 72 games for....Columbus. (goes to finals against flames)
Personally I don't care if he plays for the oilers, but I'd rather see him win a cup and I will never cheer for the stinking Oil.

I really don't care, as long as he signs with neither team in Western Canada.

okIt's being talked about in at least 2 threads, he's a free agent who happens to be play a position we need and leads s a large number of franchise stats. This is definitely a worth while topic for a thread.

He's the all time leader in points for this team. Also keeps getting brought up in other threads. He gets brought up enough that I figured it's worth having its own thread. Also, yhis will hopefully cleanup other threads like the Foo one. (Where the last 15 posts or so could all be imported here)
If you don't care, that's fine. Just trying to help for those who are interested in this, and discussing the actual topics of other threads.
Have a nice evening, Troll.

Once again, its been many years so move on. There will be a Free Agent signing thread soon enough... no need to create a thread.
I want Radulov and Justin Willians.. they have been talked about in other threads so should I create two need threads to discuss them??

I really do want to see him come back.. after not grabbing him last year and seeing him 3 times before the playoffs there was no doubt that the Iggy intangibles that he brings would have served us well against Anahiem.
We can offer him a bottom 6 spot and PP time alongside Johnny/Mony and I think he'd be worth that.

It's more relevant here than other threads. If you don't like the topic, don't click on it and don't comment on it. If you want to create a thread about those two, everyone will similarly be free to ignore it.

That would be way more stupid than an Iggy thread because they have no history with the Flames. Like it or lump it fans still have a soft spot for Iggy and care about where he ends up, he spent almost two decades here.
I think we blew it when we didn't give Theo one more year and I think it would be a miss not to bring Iggy back but we'll see.
Makes sense to talk about that in a centralized thread a week before FA and during the offseason.

I thought Iggy would for sure by re-signing with LA after his success there last season and the management comments the team needed more intangibles and leadership. I wonder if the Sutter firing and the fact LA will be a coin flip to make the playoffs has changed things however.
Iginla probably wants to stay in the West and be on a contender so his options are limited. I don't think there is a fit for him on the Flames and I don't want his legacy tarnished by going to the Oilers so hopefully he will end in the Central on Chicago or Nashville.

His legacy would definitely be tarnished for me if he signed with the Oilers. I'm over him leaving but just like when there was talk of him signing with the Canucks before signing with Colorado I pray he has no interest in Edmonton. That would just be gross.

Tbh I'd rather have Iginla on a 4.5x3 than friggin Brouwer
I hope Brad can sign him, Iggy is the only available tough guy out there that can actually play hockey

Id take him back as a power play specialist, but have a feeling Tre has bigger plans. I'm not sure Iggy is interested I'm coming back either.

When I see the right wing options via free agency on a thread here, I'd love to see Iginla sign with the Flames for one last go. It would be awesome.

Flames right wing depth:
Frolik (ideal second liner/ complimentary player)
Ferland (natural LW, utility forward but still has upside to be more)
Brouwer (bad season otherwise good middle six player in his career)
Lazar (management sees him as a third liner long-term, also play center)
Chiasson ( lots of posters saying not to offer him a contract, was actually quite good in the bottom 6)
Tkachuk (plays LW but has played RW has the most upside and skill of all wingers not named Gaudreau)
Versteeg (versatile skilled player, not under contract yet)
Don't see where Iginla fits here, he's not top end anymore which is the only RW we need. Personally I see him as a grinder at 5 on 5 with the skills to score on the power play. Doesn't bring much offence at even strength or defence really, but plays physically. I see him being more valuable to other teams.

Iginla would replace some of the aggression that we've lost in Engelland. Iggy showed down the stretch he's still an absolute team player. He also stood up for his teammates on an absolutely awful Avs team that had no one else willing to do it.
We could do a lot worse than adding Jarome Iginla. I'd love to see it.
That being said, I think the 3rd line LW is more important as Ferly has earned the right to play with Johnny and Sean after having an impressive stretch to close out the season.

Good thread. Sooo many wet blankets on here these days. You'd think the Oilers won the cup and Gaudreau got traded for Eberle.
A little discussion about one of the greatest Flames of all time isn't that big of a deal. Been scrolling past way more useless threads and posts en mass for years.
All I hope is he goes to a team that makes the playoffs and isn't a sitting duck at trade deadline again. Hope he can go out fighting for it.
