NCAA 2017 Football thread
Way early for anything of real substance to talk about, but needed a spot to post this.
Now, I absolutely hate the Ohio St Buckeyes as a fan...but this is just really really cool no matter who you cheer for.
17 YO scores a TD in his wheelchair on last play of the spring game.

Great move for Oklahoma. I kind of thought Stoops would get fired after this past season. Clearly they knew they risked losing Riley. They found a way to do it without firing Stoops and keeping him in the fold.

The NCAA season will kick off in Sydney again with Stanford taking on Rice on August 27th (26th in North America).
Pretty exciting Stanford is coming to town but it's too bad they couldn't find better competition.

Lots of rumblings here in Oklahoma that Bobby Stoops has some health problems that led to his retiring.

I cynically assumed there was an impending NCAA banhammer on the horizon.

OK...this just HAS to be considered jumping the shark.

An 11-year-old quarterback was offered a scholarship by the University of Hawaii on Saturday. Titan Lacaden, a fifth grader from Kapolei, Hawaii, took to Twitter to share the news that he had received a verbal offer from Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich.

Although there have been a handful of games already and a few more tonight, the big matchups start tomorrow.
Michigan vs Florida and Bama vs Florida St highlight tomorrow's matchups. The Bama game is at the new stadium in Atlanta so that'll be cool to see.

The fact they were ranked in any pre-season poll was a massive joke.
Looks good on them.

David Sills, a "quarterback prodigy" coached by David Clarkson, was a seventh grader when he was offered a scholarship by Lane Kiffin at USC in 2010 (because of his age apparently it was non-binding). He turned out to be bust, eventually converting to receiver at West Virginia.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davi...rican_football
EDIT: actually read the article -- looks like Kiffin is still at it, making offers to Steve Clarkson's kid as well as Tee Martin's kid.

There are always so many cool stories that come from college football...here is another one that happened this afternoon.
Quote:
Blind long-snapper Jake Olson is officially a letter winner at USC.
Following a Trojans touchdown that put Saturday's game against Western Michigan out of reach late in the fourth quarter, Olson came on and snapped for a successful extra point. Western Michigan appeared to know it was possible Olson would appear and did not rush the kick. USC won 49-31.
Olson was born with retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer, and lost his left eye when he was 10 months old. In 2009, at age 12, he learned he needed surgery to remove his right eye, which would completely cost him his vision. Olson developed a close relationship with the USC program at the time and spent the night before his surgery watching USC practice.

By point-spread standards, Howard pulled off perhaps the biggest upset in modern college football history Saturday night.
The Bison, an FCS team from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, entered as 45-point road underdogs against UNLV and stunned the Rebels 43-40 in Las Vegas. UNLV paid Howard $600,000 for the appearance.
Las Vegas sportsbooks were not offering a money line on the game, but the Bison could be found as 600-1 long shots and even higher at some offshore books.

Disappointed I wasn't able to catch the game, but wow sounded like it was an unbelievable game. UCLA down 44-10 in the 3rd quarter and they come back to win 45-44
