Hack&Lube opens CP's new unofficial official beer store
Congrats to Hack&Lube to opening what's sure to be CP's official beer store. I love people that throw themselves out there with business ideas like this, and the fact that it's a long term CP member makes it really cool.
If you're grabbing beer anyways and are anywhere near his location, definitely check it out and support a great poster. Especially in this economy, and the tough nature of small start ups, it's important to rally around each other, imo.
Sorry Hack&Lube, the picture wouldn't copy for some reason if you want to add it in here. Hope I'm not imposing by starting this thread for you, but that's a pretty big plunge you took with a really neat idea, so figured it'd be best to get some eyes on it.

I'm proud to announce that my partners and myself have just opened The Beer Vault, Calgary's first beer-focused retail destination, a store that just does beer like Calgary hasn't seen before.
Our goal is to have the best cold selection of beer in Calgary with enormous diversity but also a focus on local breweries. We want to support Alberta-made beer with a huge selection of local product from our neighboring craft breweries.

I'm pretty excited for this.
Yeah buying a pack of big box beer is fine for taking to hockey, if I'm sitting at home having dinner I prefer quality beer.
I've heard they have (or will have) every local craft brewery there, which is even more reason to go.
Edit: What's up with the vault? It says it's sealed on your site, is it just not ready to go yet or you actually have to get it unlocked?

How will we recognize other CP members shopping there?

We'll use the new CP hand signal where we put our hands in the air and call out for Hack&Lube to do the same as we enter his store.

Yep, I will definitely come check it out. Unfortunately, I currently have enough beer in my fridge to kill a large goat, so need to catch up first.

Likely to be the nerdiest Beer Store in the City.
Not that theres anything wrong with that, as anyone who has walked through my office can attest.

Neat idea utilizing the bank vault. I'm not a big beer guy but I hope it does well. Maybe if it takes off they can add Rye Whiskey vault?

I went in on Friday. Great selection and organized by regions. Met with H&L's partner who gave me the grand tour- he was quite knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
One of the things I liked was the availability of singles. Many times I'll see craft beer available for $20 for a 4 pack, I'd rather buy a single for $6 and see if I like it first. Also gives me a chance to try more beers without breaking the bank.
I'll definitely be going back.

You know, I think being a bean counter for a beer store would have some pretty good perks. Just thinking out loud.

Oh yes....H&L left me a nice gift when he was in on the weekend.
Took a good chunk of the sting out of the last days of tax season.
