Of course, approving what the NEB recommended is the easy part. For both Notley and Trudeau, we will see how much they actually want these built when it comes time to stand up and denounce the inevitable protests and riots that American oil money is going to throw its weight behind.

FFS - CC, who is firmly in your same camp, had the class to admit this was well played, but in true Resolute style here you are putting your spin on it. Are you this jaded and bitter with everything?

Sorry, what about the other five? Or are you cherrypicking one to say that they're all invalid?

Cherrypicking?
You miss my intent, just cause I challenge one item in your post post doesn't mean I disagree with your entire post.
If I feel part of your post is inaccurate, and I challenge it, that isn't cherry-picking and invalidates the entire post.
Chill out and don't assume others are out to get you.

Surely a major policy announcement by the government merits its own thread?

Fair enough.
In general, I've found that in internet discussions, people will find a single sentence or point in a post to nit-pick in order to imply that the overall post is incorrect.
If that wasn't your intention then we're cool. It'd be much more clear if you acknowledged the point of the post (ie. both Trudeau and Harper did good work) before blasting the inaccuracy (for which I apologize for).

Not to toot my own horn, but to toot my own horn I called the Liberals approving this project like 2-3 months ago.
As others have said in this thread, we've got something to be proud about today.
The Liberals appear to have a long plan in place to get critical infrastructure approved in Canada. If their slower approach stands up to the inevitable Supreme Court challenge, then they deserve all the credit they receive.
Today is a great day for Canada, and therefore, the world.

The real losers today are the idealists who forgot what party Trudeau is at the head of.

These pipelines get approved under a PC or WR government as well. But sure, Notley gets her day in the sun. As far as Trudeau goes, I did express skepticism about his desire to get these going, and I am happy to be proven wrong. It is good to see that he and his advisors that realize committing economic suicide would be a tremendously stupid thing to do.
I can only hope that Trudeau will be similarly resilient when all the paid protesters do everything they can to prevent shovels from hitting the ground.

Approval is easy, building is hard. I am happy but like others pointed out any other party (minus the wacko federal NDP) would do the same.
Validation waits for the court rulings and pipeline start up.
Lastly, anyone else have the urge to practice their water cannon skills?
