lol wow that was a bad slip.

The girls seem to have good footwork in tight spaces but they can't seem to string any passes or plays together and when they do the execution is off. Lots of panicky defending too. Just clearing it to random spaces as if a touch is all they need.

Both teams.

I would like to see the ball moved back on penalty kicks or for extra time to be sudden death. Sudden death OT might make it more compelling to try and get that game winning goal.

With all the cards and fouls, Kadeisha is a bit of a loose Buchanan back there.

They tried sudden death in the 90s. It made teams more scared. And penalty shots have to be easy because if they were difficult then there would be no deterrence for fouling in the box. A foul fest!

In soccer defense is just as important as offense so parking the bus is a strategy. It's not that boring to me because the struggle to break that defense can be intriguing.

Seriously need to work on passing.

Lazy play by that defender on the goal. Just waited for the other German girl to take the ball....

I noticed that early on in the game. I didn't like the way that she was playing early on.

Maybe I just like Matheson too much but I don't understand why she didn't start the match.

Overall, what a disappointing second half of the Olympics.

going to be really tough playing Brazil for the bronze - would much rather be facing Sweden

Canada vs Brazil should be a fun but difficult match to watch. Germany vs Sweden should be a blowout.

Why don't they stop the clock in soccer like they do in every other normal sport? Then they just arbitrarily add time on. Then after that, they add a little more. Greatest game my arse. They can't even run a stopwatch!

Had a tough day yesterday no doubt, but who knows, got a Canadian in the high jump final tonight and Andre de Grasse with a strong showing in his 200m heat today, still have some good chances to nab some Olympic hardware.

Sucks to lose, but Germany was the better team. This sucks way less than the semifinal loss in 2012.

Disappointing. I guess how the team from Sweden plays won't be our problem. I wonder if they got distracted by the result of the previous game, looked ahead and didn't focus on the here and now.
