I'm ok with the move, but I would like an explanation for why it's happening. Even if we all more or less know why already, there's a big difference between saying "they're not playing because of x and y" and "you can't see your favourite players and no, you can't know why".

Hoping for a statement from the team, even if it's a little vague.

You enjoy watching a bottom feeder team? Isn't the whole point to watch a winning team? And isn't it important to establish a high level of professionalism and work ethic to make a winning team? The fact that you aren't in support of this I feel is simply because you have a hatred of Hartley that knows no bounds. I think if you were "intellectually honest" you'd truly appreciate this.

Besides, it's 1 game. You'll see them again soon enough. Quit crying.

So you get your money back if they get hurt? Or sick?

Can people please stop quoting polak?
As for the diciplinary action a coach has gotta do what he's gotta do Hartley is just doing his job by the sounds of it.

Of course not. Maybe entitled is the wrong word but I don't see anything wrong with people paying to watch the game expecting to see the star players.

This surprises me, but as a Hartley detractor, he has earned quite a bit of respect from me for not being afraid to do something like this.

Thinking long-term, hopefully all of the players (even those not punished) can use this as a learning experience.

They are young, and will continue to mature. I am not worried.

I'm just glad Gaudreau was apart of it. If it was just Monahan and Bouma this would be blown out of proportion worse then it is. The Gaudreau fan boys would be holding him up on a higher pedestal.

Man, I was the opposite when I was a coach for soccer. You show up drunk/stoned/hungover you arent getting off the field!

Be prepared to play the whole game!

That was youth sports, this is the pros, this is their job. If anyone does this at their job then yeah, they're going to get disciplined.

Gross, everyone over at HF is calling this a Tank Bowl.

Hard to argue with them.

I'm sure they'll explain after the game why they were scratched.

They're not going to say anything before hand because they want fans to show up. Especially when the Leafs are in town, they don't want the dome to be flooded in Blue and White.

In that case, blame the players. Not the coach. There are rules, and if they are broken, you are punished accordingly.

At the end of the day (or in this case the season) the proof of the discipline - if it is such - will be in how the team performs in the next 30-odd games. I guess if it's an ongoing issue and the boys have been ignoring the coach and management, then they've got their answer.

Doesn't mean they'll play better, but possibly like an errant dog after being re-leashed, they'll behave.

And that, dear friends, could be a good - or bad - thing in the long run. Sometimes creativity comes from being off the path. Sometimes not.

There are a million ways to punish them behind closed doors. Flames were probably within their rights to fine them if they saw fit even.

Why would Hartley want to lose? He as a coach does not benefit from tanking. He's fighting for a job in this league. He wouldn't lose on purpose.
