Why is it so hard to believe that people actually think the suspension is too long because of their knowledge of hockey along with their opinion of the event in question? Just because people think it's too harsh doesn't mean they are saying it should be 0 games and they are blinded because a Flames player is involved.
|
Ok, but why is the differing of opinion so great between here and the rest of the hockey world? That is my question. I understand some think it is too long based on their knowledge of the game. I am simply saying I think that is the minority on here based on the poll results vs what everyone outside of CP thinks.

So Wideman should of gotten up used his stick as a weapon and two hand slash a predator player in the face and would of gotten less than 20. Way to go nhl....

I'd say they are in the bottom 5-10 represented fanbase on HF.
I go by how many posts/threads are in each team sub-forum. The Flames are very low compared to the majority of the other teams.

Omg I just realized I've been posting here for 10 years.
I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised by the suspension. As a flames fan, was hoping for less, but if you even grab a ref you get 10 games, Wideman laid him out. The fact that it is arguably accidental is probably what kept it at only 20.

Didn't you spend dozens of posts after starting the original thread telling people it was going to be 20 games?

Another agreement with you.
I see no place for either side in this case to say there is no room for argument on the intent/no intent issue. I assume you agree there was room for argument on the "no intent" side.
IMO once they found intent to hit, a long suspension was inevitable.

When a Flame gets suspended it really sucks because unintentional, accidental, he will lose X amount of dollars just for THAT etc etc.
When a player on any other team gets suspended it is not enough games because wheel of justice, you have to make an example, the discipline committee has no credibility etc etc.
Dennis Wideman got 20 games to satisfy the masses. That's how these things work. It sucks when it happens to Flame. It's great or even too leniant when it happens to anyone else.

Have they announced if they are appealing yet?
I would be not surprised at all if a Neutral Party who does the appeal upholds the suspension.

Which is not true. I made a bad choice of one word but everything else has been opinion and stated as such. And it still does not change the fact that you are a complete and total d-bag either for bringing someone's line of work into a discussion that had nothing to do with the discussion. Yes, that is an insult toward you and yes, you deserve it.

Your choice of words made it sound like you have a major superiority complex with the ability to decide you have knowledge of how people think, feel, or would react to hypothetical situations. I thought it was relevant based on how many times you inferred it in this thread alone. The anger and insults now just pile on to that point.

I do, but this argument in my mind depends on a lot more insinuation, circumstantial hand wringing, and anecdote. In other words, I think it is possible that the entire incident from the first contact with the official, to the hit to his head was an accident. However, this strikes me as a more difficult interpretation from the evidence.

No, I work in a field where I can make an opinion on how people feel or react because I experience it every day. There is a difference between knowledge and an opinion, maybe you should educate yourself. Things a person in Grade 2 could tell the difference between. And don't bring up anger or insults, you opened that can of worms yourself by your little cheap shot that started all this. Rather than be a man and do the right thing and apologize for that comment you have continued to show the quality of person you are.
