Good that Colborne is out. He's been utter hot steaming garbage for a little while now.
Hope Colborne & Bollig are the scratched forwards.

And they played like a bubble team the whole way too. Got outplayed in a good number of those games

Hes a bum. He'll never score again. Hopefully we can flip him for Drouin.

Guess it is 'the halfway mark' so Bob is easing Bennett over to C now that Benett 'has a feel for it'.
Or the tank is officially on. We can expect UFAs to be dealt, the kids to get playtime, and use this as a building experience.

Even if Frolik doesn't play, it shows Hartley is considering (a) moving Bennett to the middle and (b) that line, which could work pretty well. Bennett and Hudler need a guy with both some skill and defensive smarts. That's Frolik. Has he played LW before?

I believe both Hudler and Frolik can play both sides.

#Flames milestones within reach tonight: TJ Brodie needs 1 assist for 100 while Dougie Hamilton needs 2 points for 100. #FLAvsCGY

I'm actually A-OK with that at this point.
I don't think this team has the consistency to do anything this year. ####ty pacific division or not.

TSN's ice chips said Brodie and Backlund are both out tonight. Anyone else heard this?

It's only been the last handful of games they've been below average (Ottawa game forward). Before that they were dominant.

Panthers are still a mediocre team. Right now they'd face Tampa or Boston in the first round, my money would be on Tampa or Boston.
Go Flames.

You may disagree, but dominant is a giant hyperbole. They outshot one team (CBJ) and regularly got doubled in shots and scoring chances. Their goaltender was one of the three stars in almost every game. That's not dominant

They're the absolute best team in the league defensively, and they rank 13th in offense after a terribly slow start to the year. They lead their division by 6 points, the same division as the Canadiens, Bruins, Lightning, and Red Wings. They have the 5th best winning percentage in the entire league.
Please explain...how are they mediocre?

Fine, let's change dominant to "won convincingly". Most of those games were never in doubt, and the goaltender usually gets a star when the team holds the opposition to very few goals. That's the Panthers M.O., excellent team defense. Score adjusted shot attempts may be more indicative since they were leading most of those games, although I don't delve into advanced stats very often. I watch them play, and most of the shots are from the perimeter with a clear lane for the goalie to see. The last few games, they've gotten away from that, but overall they are very strong in their own end.
What it comes down to is they have something like a 17-0-1 record when scoring 3 goals or more. That's pretty good, and deserves recognition for their ability to close out games whereas previous years they lacked that ability.
They are certainly NOT a "bubble team".

I will be willing to make a bet that the the record they post from this game forward is no more than 4 games above 0.500. Let's wager sigs

You know the no good Edmonton Oilers? ya those guys that usually allow 40 shots a game? The mediocre Panthers had 14 shots on net against them! Mediocrity beat the no good.
Yes that division where the best player in the league had the Habs atop the standings before he got hurt. Lightning who have had injury isssues/Stamkos contract/Drouin trade request to deal with.
In the end if you barely beat the no good oilers and put up 14 shots on them? you are a mediocre team. No other way around it.
ps - I also like how you say "They're the absolute best team in the league defensively" when Caps have allowed 2 less goals in 1 less game. Also the Kings are tied for goals against having played 1 less game. So they're good defensively, thanks to Lou but they're not absolutely the best team defensively.
