Not sure if anyone else has been watching this - just burned through the first 4 episodes of 10 and man what a roller coaster ride. Whoever put this documentary together did a fantastic job. Haven't been this addicted to a show since Breaking Bad

Making a Murderer is an American web television series which first streamed on Netflix on December 18, 2015.[1] The first season recounts the story of Steven Avery, a man who was imprisoned for sexual assault and attempted murder, and who was later exonerated, only to be subsequently accused of the murder of Teresa Halbach.[2] The series was filmed over the course of ten years, with the creators moving back and forth from New York to Wisconsin during filmi
I did too about half way through. I know the film makers show the case from the defenses point of view, but there are just so many things that make you shake your head. I don't want to discuss it all in case I spoil it for others.
They did a good job on this, watched the all 10 episodes
Spoiler!
There just isn't any real evidence, any evidence they had was tainted by the fact that it was the Manitowoc County. What is the really scary is that the Justice Department hasn't torn down and rebuilt Manitowoc County. At best they are guild of gross negligence, the sheriffs departments, FBI, prosecutors, one defense attorney and judge all come off looking dirty in this. What is worse is I got the sense that the city cops knew Manitowoc County was incompetent early on in the episode.
What is really scary is they screwed up the case so bad I don't think you'll ever know who killed her. Not sure if he did or not by the end of the documentary.
Loved this series and I hope they follow it up, but I have to take it with a grain of salt. I'm thinking the film-makers left out a lot. With a lot of things in life, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
Spoiler!
I don't think they showed enough of the state's argument, I have a hard time thinking they would convict someone on the evidence they showed, not to mention the turned down appeals. The fact that they included the 'sexting scandal" of the prosecution, in my opinion, had nothing to do with the case, but painted the prosecution in a bad light, which is another tool they used to sway viewers opinion. I get it though, it's a movie, and that's gold. I think anyone who watches the movie is persuaded to think that this was a major injustice, (and maybe it was) but I just have a really hard time swallowing that amount of evidence (or lack-there-of) and incompetence would result in a "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt verdict," even OJ got off on less. It was brilliantly crafted, at times you think "oh maybe he did do it" then it would sway you the other way, back and forth, really great film-making, but the truth and film-making are 2 different things and I think we should all keep that in mind.
So, pretty great series and documentary. Of course though.. lots of things left out by the documentary. How he was basically stalking the girl... answered his door in a towel. Sweat under the hood found.. etc.
I think he probably did it. But here's the thing... either way he probably should have got acquitted for the insane way the Manitowok county sheriff and his minions blatantly ignored the conflict of interest. Publicly the county said there was a conflict of interest and said they would only assist the neighbouring county police in the investigation. Then they go ahead and basically ignore that and are the ones who came up with all this evidence. Had these idiots simply walked away and let the other county do all the work and come up with the evidence there would be no reason to dispute the charges.
The incredible lack of judgement by Manitowok County police is truly frightening. These are the same people who put Avery away for a rape he didnt do.... and they likely knew he didnt do. All of the cops involved should have been in jail, nevermind investigating him.

The Following User Says Thank You to White Out 403 For This Useful Post:
Ken Kratz, the creepy sexting DA who's now a defense attorney in Wisconsin (incredible he wasn't disbarred for sexually harassing victims he was helping). Google and yelp reviews are hilarious as anticipated. My favourite:

Are you a victim of a sex crime in need of some self-esteem-enhancing sexts from an older affluent (by Wisconsin standards) mustachio-ed lothario?
Are you a vindictive dirty cop who needs a charismatic prosecutor to help you put an innocent man in jail?
Are you a developmentally disabled teen who needs some help fabricating a confession inflammatory enough to get you life in prison?
Do you feel like the criminal justice system needs more perversion? Or even just more perverts?
If you answered "YES" to any one of these questions, then Ken Kratz is your man! With a proven and documented record of obsession with his own penis and vindication of corruption, Ken Kratz can help you perpetrate your evil deeds - he might even join in the fun, because if he's anything, he's a people person.
Ken Kratz - because he's never met a work of fiction he thought was too sweaty to repeat. Or embellish.
